Mephisto Genetics Testing some Mephisto...for Mephisto!

You couldn’t have picked a better spot!
I think I happen to see some reslly nice Sour Cracks somewhere else recently?! Nice work over there. Im behind you, these 2 had nice tails and were planted about 24 hours ago. My first time using these homemeade SIPs too. Im gonna go put 1/2 gal more in them. They hold 1 gal. But should have wicked up some by now and zi only put 1/2 gal in the other day. With SIPs u want the Rez to stay somewhat full at all times if possible. Its ok to let the rez go low, but not too low for too long. It can dry out and not effect the plants...but if you do it too much or for too long you can cause issues. It is almost impossible to over water, becaise of the overflow holes. BUT when the plants are young or when you plant SEEDS DIRECTLY you dont need to water the rez daily. When planting directly in SIPs you want the soil to wick up the water enough to keep it moist....not wet.

So my personal technique is to keep the Rez 1/2 full vs full for the first few weeks. This prevents excessive moisture during the first 3 weeks of life when roots seek moisture the most and can be drastically slowed down due to overmoist soil. You can have overly moist soil and techniqually not be "over watering". Plants may look fine on top, but lack a dense root system in the soil. If you keep the Rez 1/2 full, I see faster growth during this time vs keeping it full. During the first 3 weeks I only water the Rez to overflow 1x. That is the initial.day I prep my soil. Fill it to overflow and let it wick up the water. I dont add water for the first 5 to 7 days to the Rez. The roots are not lsrge enough and the plants are barely growing yet...so covered soil with zero root systems dont dry out quickly! Moist NERVER wet during these first 3 weeks, not mstter how you grow...this will.provide the roots the best opprotunity snd conditions to seek moisture. Too wet = slow motion growing of roots and plants. So I have to see how long these plants will take to use up their water supply, as I made these SIPs and its first time trying them. Best to go slow and use 1/2 full rez tech. Epecially when directly planting the seeds. The starter soil has plent of moisture in it because I hand sprayed it and let the SIPs sit overnight before planting to wick up moisture fro. REZ. I know what to expect from Earthboxes, Mine hold less soil, so we will see how these do. Good thing is tbat you csn always handwater from.the top if you ever feel like the wicking is not enough. I can also add another wicking pipe if needed. I have 1 pipe and then the corners each have a small section that is filled with soil snd able to wick up from rez. Should work perefectly I dont expect the need for more wicking. Im excited to get these going, tkmorrow should be day 1. I will add pics when they break the surface. Peace, slow.

Ok everyone, I wanted to do a quick update. My SIPs are doing fine. Of course nothing to do with them for about 5 more days. I just added a splash of water to tbe Rez. I never watered these to Overflow and have been keeping the Rez about 1/2 full. The technique seems superior to 100% full during the first few weeks. I am not watering to overflow for the first 3 weeks. Only keeping 1/2 full seems to speed up the initial fist week of growth vs 100% Full rez. I believe 1/2 full is keeping the Soil at a lower saturation rate than when full. Which is key during early root developement. So far I am very impressed with the new home made SIPs and the new Mars Hydro Light. Thanks again @MarshydroTina. I am super happy and so are these Sour Crack seedlings. The SIPs are staying perfectly moist, so my set up is working well and the plastic is keeping a nice amount of moisture under the cap. Perfect for breaking down organic top dressings! These are now 1 week old. Time for these things to explode. I love this strain! Peace, slow

I forgot to mention. Today when at Meijer, I saw some HEFTY Brand totes. They are grey and lime green. So, these totes advertise as being RAISED LIDS..to hold more and stack on each other. Anyways, they are a little more expensive than the Sterlite ones from Walmart. HOWEVER, the lid is nicer and if you cut the lid and make it your Raised bottom...it would work perfectly WITHOUT needing extra supports. So you would not need to use pvc posts as support or whatever. I really liked the size and shapes. They have multiple ones. I was looking at the smaller ones, for my Sour Cracks. They were 4.5 gal. Sterlite ones are 4 gal. The ones from Home Depot are 7 gal and the lids are very hard, needing a power saw to cut. So if you dont have tools or dont want to use pvc supports, the HEFTY brand totes with Lime green tops and raised lid are a perfect choice for DIY SIPs. Theybarw called Hi Rise and come in 4.5, 8, 10, 18 gal. Cheaper at Meijer, but carry at Lowes too. Peace, slow

Ok, been 4 days since this last update. I didnt go in there yesterday at all, because I knew there was plenty of water in the rez. So, when I peeked in on them it was a huge surprise! I am so happy with the growth on them. I will add a pic later, I think people will be a little surprised. The Rez have enough water in each one. I will not add until it goes down noticably. Which I anticipate some rapid growth and the faster drinking plants very soon. Will go yake a pic within the hour. Peace, slow

Very good growth in just 4 days .. nice speed, well done bro! You have some promising plants over there
Thanks for the support! I love this strain! Big thanks once again to my man @stan_mephisto Appreciate the opprotunity to run these F8s. Clearly they have nice vigor. I am using these Home made SIPs for the first time, so far so good? I am going to add a couple products to my line up soon. These will be perfect plants to try my new stuff on once it arrives! I am realky happy with the growth thus far. New light is nice. I like it a lot. Will update pics in another 3 to 4 days. Peace, slow

Hey Everyone! Well I had an interesting couple of days. My son wanted to use a little pitching machine that he got for his Birthday. It ia these mini yellow balls and he can use it indoors . So this is the fist time setting it up in basement. I grabbed an extension cord, because it would not reach the plug at the distance we needed. My son plugged the extenstion cord into to wall. Then I attempted to put the other 2 ends together. ZAPPPPPP...Pooooof....BuRN! The extension cord sprayed arc and flames onto my left hand. Luckily I dropped it quickly. However, my hand is burned badly! I have giant blisters. My wife got some Silver Gel and that stuff is helping already! Wow that sucked! But I am very thankful that it was my hand and not my sons hand.

On a more postitive note My Soir Ctacks are doing amazing! So far the Home Made SIPs are kickin Ass.
