Mephisto Genetics THAR SHE GROWS! DWC GWK

Cool, thanks for replying. People are going totally nuts for it, im gonna have to order more and make sure to make seeds when i ger to the last of them, i want it to always be around. Ill probly just buy a ton then try the new artisanals later.
Yeah, losing the mbap really sucks, im trying not to think about it, at least i salvaged a bunch, ill test it today or tmrw when its dry. It looks ok. I learn from mistakes more than anything, i focus and commit things to memory more when im upset.
The ph shot up to over 7 while i slept and the seedling wilted. I put it in some coco. God dammit. From now on im going to start them in coco til they grow some roots then transfer them. Im gonna spend the day hanginh out with the baby bird, i hope its alive when i get home. Ill start another and continue the journal if not. Real real annoying.
Heres a pic of the baby bird, hes a super snuggler he rolls on his back so i can scratch his belly. Hes a chestnut fronted macaw, they get about half size of the big ones. Hes abouy 6 weeks old, itll be a while til hes ready to come home with me.

I have a male solomon island eclectus, he is 19 years old, we have had him since before he was a year old
20141024_095010.jpg

they are a lot of fun, and a lot, a whole lot, of work and money. its like having a 10 year old for the entire life of the bird as far as its needs , physical, emotional, and monetary. But if it something you love doing then it is all worth it, this pic is very recent, less than 6 months ago.

Aww those eclectus are cool, they have a bunch at the store, they seem totally laid back compared to other parrots. Id say thryre dapper birds lol. Sooo...the green one is the female... I dont know why, but alot of people get that backwards, im still telling people at the shop that, thry thought the green was male too. Yeah lol theyre tons of work, my conure was overbonded to me and with me 24/7, like having a tiny 3 year old attached to your shoulder, if line of sight between us was broken hed go NUTS. Ive been volunteering at the shop, hes converting alot of the building, making breeding/quarantine/nursery rooms in the basement. Hes going all out, its going to be an awesome place. im helping with that and socializing the birds, i should take some pics next time. Im working on handling this big ruby macaw, its kinda scary when she holds my finger in her giant bone crushing beak, but shes warming up to me and hasnt hurt me, shes just cage aggressive, i think shes getting over it. I also get to use my diy led knowledge to make a uv system for all the cages. Ava is really growing fast, shes almost weaned, im super excited to bring her home, ive been visiting her every day. She plays for a while, then gets tired out and falls asleep on me. She gets under my chin, rolls on her back and snuggles her head on my face with her beak pressed on my nose and zonks out lol. Well i can ramble about her all day, im pretty much totally in love with her.
So, i got the damn humidifier. It does almost nothing, raised the rh like 3%. I tried moving it around in different areas, no difference. Ive cut my fans way down, intake to like 30% and exhaust to 60%, no real difference. I turned off the oscillating fan, didnt make much difference, but the inner leaves of the ultimate started dying so i turned it back on. Its putting out a ton of moisture, it put out like 3 gallons overnight in 9 hrs, but the rh is still 32%, which is about what it is without it at this temp. I wonder if its because the fan on it is blowinh straight up and the moisture is getting sucked out the exhaust? This is very, very annoying and depressing. I ordered an even bigger humidifier. So ill be running 3 in there. I have to do some research into ventilation, maybe i can run the fans on a hydro timer, 15 on 15 off or smthg. I know im already below optimum air exchange, i accidentally bumped the variac knob a while ago and it was too low at 40% intake, the plants were getting droopy. But theyre transpiration has slowed down so much i dont think thats a factor til i get the humidity up, i need a multiple head ultrasonic, i should have just bought that instead of thr evap humidifiers, im really suprised and dissapointed that they do so little. Ugh this freakin sucks.
Well, heres a couple pics of Ava yesterday, and my stupid whole house humidifier that doesnt work in a 5x6 closet....

So i was the one that was wrong and had it backwards! The male is the green! I dont know where the hell i got that confused, i read about them alot. I must have confused it once, then inserted male whenever i saw female in my mind. Jeeeez...ive got alot of apologizing to do, luckily i dont feel to embarassed to admit im wrong lol

Ok im looking at ventilation, my room volume is 250 cubic ft, i need about 240 cfm airflow. These fans are 750 cfm per minute, so i should be able to turn them down a little more, intake to like 35% and exhaust around 45 i think should work? I dunno, they got wilty at that level in the summer when i turned it down accidentally, but they were metabolically busier then. Im not sure. I could use some advice if anyone sees this familiar with the problem. Gonna read more...

Lol Ok i used the airflow reference on the Phresh website, theyre trying to sell more fans and bigger filters so it may not be accurate. It needs to change over once every 3 minutes, so i need about 84 cfm in a 250 cubed room, does that sound right? I feel like that may be low, maybe the phresg site was accurate. Thinking out loud, need help

i always go with the largest one i can afford at the time of purchase, i find that it is better to have overspent and have a fan that is larger than necessary than to underspend and have a fan that ends up not doing the job.

Yeah, this is annoying. I fiddled around with the fans and turned the heat up in my apartment, i got it to 42%. The big one is arriving tmrw, should be ok, i hope things turn around now

I might do that. Im worried about the wear on the fans starting so often. My giant humidifier arrived at my parents just now, gotta get it. Cant order stuff to my apartment thats too big for the mail box, the usps guy is too lazy to use the intercom and i end up having to go pick stuff up, real real annoying. Right now its 34%, which i guess is where itll sit when ambient outdoor is below freezing. I hope i can get it up to 50 at least with this new one. Im gonna do some lst on the GWK later and post pics. I also got some pics of Ava and a bunch of the birds at the bird store. Most of them are sweet hearts, but Ava gets jealous if i even look at them lol she makes a funny noise and bops me with her beak. She also flaps her wings when i say DOIN A FLAP! And tries to say it hahaha
