Save your money and spend it on a new led. I would take experience over college education any day. The day to day applications are more important to me than theory in a classroom setting. Kind of the logic with on line, you can read all you want, but spending time in your garden is where the real learning begins and experience is worth its weight in gold. I am no where near a master grower, but can find what I need to improve with AFN, www.growweedeasy.com and fellow gorwers. And, no, there is no accredited canna certification that is going to get you better pay for a job. IF there was a standardize system and credibility in place, but none exist as far as I know. Spend you hard earned money on gear for your grow space!

yeah online is a rip off imo too.But there is one I have saved I saw thats on the east coast(north like past NYC or so,like Conn or something)that claims to be all hands on in class and have a better and different approach to the bussiness and growing aspects of cannabis for patients.but its far but thats the one I wanna do to be honest!!hell if i do well maybe they'll gimme a job hey ya never know LOL!

Now that DC is legal, and only 30 minutes away, I am thinking about what moves I can make to firmly entrench myself on the ground floor of this industry before it explodes in the nation's capital. Any members out there that have taken the Master Grower Certificate course at THC University (http://thcuniversity.org/)? If so, do you think it was worth it? Was the material up to date, and relevant? Any details will be greatly appreciated.

The D.C. law is very anti-business model. Grow it,even give it away, that’s ok, selling is still a felony. And you know, I like the idea of this model. I'd love to see it legal all over and the profit motive killed in favor of providing it at low-no cost to those who can't grow it but need medicine. People on need medically are already being raped by the " medical industry". It actually pisses me off that states are fighting like hell to keep the prices high and a total disregard of the patients well being. Thus the need to fight for EVERYONE's right to grow. Why do you think some states don't allow growing? Its so they can keep the price high. Even the rec market is jusr fleecing the customers. Think not? $300 an ounce ( and that as an average is low ) is like charging $75 for a 6 pack of beer.
I stopped buying pot 35 years ago because the price went too high and took the fun out of it. It sickens me to see it turning into an "industry". And remember the motto of "industry" : " a consumer is the gullet we shovel products down"..........


I know it won't go that way though, so I'll just keep growing mine, legal or not.

That is what they are Trying to do over here pop...they form non profit making co-ops..cuts out the Black Market..and brings the cost down to 4 euros a gram as opposed to 10 euros a gram street sales.

That model needs to be applied to legal medical sales all over!

I am with you Muddy in that it should be provided to those in need at low or no cost, however there is a different market as well. Those that just want to use it recreationally and get high just to get high. That is where I think the "industry" comes in and needs to be regulated and yes taxed. Here in colorado the public education system has gotten something like 13 million dollars in the first 9 months of the state recieving revenue from the sale of recreational pot. Unfortuantly money makes the world go round, as much as I hate it that is the reality.

I also think that some of the monies recieved should go back in to providing medicine for those who cannot afford it, or are not in a physical state to grow their own.

At any rate I think as a country the United States is going to be the leader in ending the prohibition of Cannabis, and it looks like things are finally moving in the right direction

I'm in hope that it decriminalizes all over so we get to the real deal; One should be free to harvest it's plants even if the conservative morons in the power stabilish a "number" limit of plants per person...

If it is recognized medicinally, than it makes absolute sense that people out there be harvesting hundreds of plants, in order to stabilize phenos, cross species... Create it's on medicine.

Being it Hash Oil, zero-zero, edibles, flowers properly cured.

We gotta open our minds cos it's sort of dumb to limit people's individual right of growing plants. Like... "You can only have 6 plants". Thats excessively dumb and nonsense... With 6 Lowryders you could end up with 120 grams, which is NOTHING, if compared to big sativas and hibrids, that provide 600g (EACH plant), Ive seen pics in the internet from TREES in the legal area of the US that would provide up to 5 pounds per plant.

It simply proves that limiting "amount of plants" is just a total waste of time, cos it won't make people smoke less.

People will still smoke, buy, sell... But I believe that the badass drug dealing would be crippled.
Atleast in my country we don't need more carbines nor geared criminals shooting eachother for power, in this bloody market.

Instead of fighting drugs with war, they should be in da tv saying "Weed smokers, as long as you plant your own shit we'll be happy".

and I'm sure that millions of bucks would be saved every year... thousands of families wouldn't be destroyed. Both from the cop's side as the bad guys's.

There sure is something bigger and obscure behind the real drugs marked, Im speaking of it being ilicit, thus outta control just like it is.

That's the actual brazilian reality. Shit is pretty messy down in here and I am sure that if the USA gives the first step, it might unleash the whole world.

My concern is that, for $99, someone is going to show me 9 hours of videos of stuff that anyone who has grown weed for 9 hours (!) would know. I mean, if that's all it is, maybe I SHOULD start eBaying the Waxi certs!! lolol
The University of Maine has a co-op program, and I'm looking into taking some agriculture/horticulture courses through that program At least I'll learn all of the "theory", even if it isn't specific to cannabis.

Yeah, I was thinking about looking into some horticulture classes, too. This weed growing is opening my eyes up to a lot of things I never even thought twice about!

We have had the same thing going on in our state. Some schmo making a killing charging 420.00(clever) to get you into a training class on how to get in on the ground floor and make your million. He has been giving seminars for about a year and a half 1 weekend a month. Must be doing ok with it, he advertizes in a few papers every now and again. Kind of hard to sell what he is selling, when the laws haven't been written yet and the state board doesnt even allow people to apply for a dispensary license for 9 months. So be aware what you are looking to learn from the money takers for MJ anything! Buyer beware!

Yeah, that's the part that sucks. There are going to be a bunch of bogus "universities" opening up over the next few years as more and more states legalize, and until a standard is set, and these "universities" are accredited, it will be hard to distinguish the legit institutions from the ones being ran by a fast buck seeking "schmo".
