Now that DC is legal, and only 30 minutes away, I am thinking about what moves I can make to firmly entrench myself on the ground floor of this industry before it explodes in the nation's capital. Any members out there that have taken the Master Grower Certificate course at THC University (http://thcuniversity.org/)? If so, do you think it was worth it? Was the material up to date, and relevant? Any details will be greatly appreciated.

We are TALKING about the feasibility of setting up an AFN Canna Academy..with structured training modules..weekend classes and seminars..for Beginners and more Advanced students..
Tutorials practice and practical tests..which will lead to Graduation ceremonies and pass certificates..

My concern is that, for $99, someone is going to show me 9 hours of videos of stuff that anyone who has grown weed for 9 hours (!) would know. I mean, if that's all it is, maybe I SHOULD start eBaying the Waxi certs!! lolol
The University of Maine has a co-op program, and I'm looking into taking some agriculture/horticulture courses through that program At least I'll learn all of the "theory", even if it isn't specific to cannabis.

We have had the same thing going on in our state. Some schmo making a killing charging 420.00(clever) to get you into a training class on how to get in on the ground floor and make your million. He has been giving seminars for about a year and a half 1 weekend a month. Must be doing ok with it, he advertizes in a few papers every now and again. Kind of hard to sell what he is selling, when the laws haven't been written yet and the state board doesnt even allow people to apply for a dispensary license for 9 months. So be aware what you are looking to learn from the money takers for MJ anything! Buyer beware!

uhhh I have about four friend not including me that want to do an organic Shop and your as close to DC as I am LMFAO!!HEY HEY Neighbor!!LMFAO!! anywho,is this an online course?cuz I was thinking about doing one i heard about(looking onto rather) and this master growers cert?ya'll think thats even slightly worth it in 30 hours of course time?sounds like a compressed course(similar to a military styled course) and they just push you through.but i too would love some more info on it too!i plan on working local by next year or the following hopefully.LOL!

I am very suspicious about these online learning centers..... the price seems really cheap $250 dollars? Also if you get this master certification is... this certification an industry standard? Is it well known enough to where you could walk into the door at a cannabis business, present certification and it means something? Or will possible employer be confused?

If there was an accredited online learning center to obtain a certification i would definitely sign up for it

Yes I would defintely check the credentials of any place trying to "certify" me as a master grower. I am a botanist with a 4 year degree, and can say that I would rather have a certification from AFN because I think that would actually hold more weight in the legitimate business world. This is the premier place for information on growing high quality cannabis. Also because this forum is dedicated to what I, and many others believe to be the future of cannabis in the autoflowering strains, makes AFN the cutting edge and forefront of the industry. PLEASE AFN DO AN ONLINE CLASS TYPE THING. Sorry for yelling but that has me really excited!
