DIY The AirPot Bastardization Project

True that mate and you could knock one up for alot cheaper than the £220 charged for those :smokebuds:

Oh I am deff taking notes here! I've got 6 plants with a potential root rot problem. I urgently need a good silent pump. Any suggestions?

Groff! Ouargh. We think along the same lines, I've had an airpot bastardization project in planning for about a month now. I want to do a hempy airpot :D The most practical way I can think of doing it is either have them sit on a bed of perlite in a container sealed airtight to the bottom, or simply watertight the bottom and lowest 2 - 3 rows of holes. I've already started getting the pieces together, should have some up and running in time for next round of germing in about a month or so.

You saw it here first, folks!

edit: how rude of me. that setup is awesome groff, I forgot to add how much I love it. Great job!

Thats awesome!! Im workin on a cloth pot idea thats similar 22" tall one piece 3 gallon width..Best of luck to your idea and methods my friend!

So with the fabric around the outside of the air pot... it... no longer... air prunes? Is that purposeful? Cause the whole point of an air pot is to air prune the roots so they grow back into the medium. Or have I got it wrong?

Me?Oh nah air prune is spot on man.I just ment that I have a taller Airpruning clothpot style similar to kinda to whats goin on here.sorta.22" tall in 3 Gallon width and its a custom design that Im having a pro sailmaker friend sew up for me with three pockets for the graphite rods..Thats all.My bad.No Actual airpot involved.Just kinda sorta does the same as far as airtrimming the roots is all.

everything I've read/seen suggests otherwise, it's still enough air to dehydrate the roots enough but holds the medium in as well.

But look. The roots haven't been air pruned - they're coming out the bottom, that's my point. I love the look of the set up, but why not just use a net pot. That's the basis of my confusion.

I think, and definitely don't quote me on it, but the roots coming out the bottom of the airpot were unplanned and the dwc-esque setup now is what Groff has done in response. Roots don't usually pop out the bottom using tights as far as I'm aware, In every other case it just makes things a bit easier and cleaner. Did you have them in a tray that was constantly full Groff?
