New Grower This may seem like a stupid question...

So what would happen if say I stuck a small low voltage air stone bubblier inside my pot 15L pot (reg soil with 40% perlite)? Like placed it in the middle?

You can't do that because you are going to dry out the roots. The air stone will create an air pocket in the roots and where there is no liquid the roots will die. You want an oxygenated solution of water and nutrients, not just pure oxygen.

I love stupid questions. It's because in all my authority given to me over the years as a grow master... I have no idea!!

its a bubble bucket not a mister

maybe everyone ive known personally has been doing it wrong , and maybe i have too because we all fill to the rim

hasnt hurt any and the added water/nutrients/air/space seems logical

I don't know anyone that fills there water level past there net pots that's a big no no

and could you tell me why its a "big no-no" ?

the stem WILL ROOT just like it would if you cloned a branch , that is ONE reason why you would fill it , more root mass and space , whats ONE reason why you wouldnt ???

its aerated water , it will not hurt anything

Roots developed for soil are different than roots developed by the plant which can also grow in water. Hydro roots also require oxygen and they do get it through the roots, but differently than the hairs of a root in soil which depends on capillary water from the soil. The difference is clear, when a root is in water it is never in air. Water has oxygen, but it is not oxygen. It has oxygen as part of its molecular structure. This is why certain plants can grow hydro and perform very well and some cannot develop the roots needed to assimilate growing in nutrient rich water.

what are you saying exactly ?

hell the last 2 i planted i didnt even germ them in cubes or anything , i burried them straight in the rocks and filled the bucket to the RIM

they filled the bucket fast with their roots and i regretted planting 2 in the same system , but they were supposed to be small autos so i thought what the heck

peace

bump

anyone got answers ?

im starting a new bubble bucket grow soon and would really like to know if i can improve my methods

real experience please , not something you read on the net

peace

Not sure on ur system and im only new but ive had a few different air stones and boss hoggs are awesome.

You probably have already done this but check Seymour buds ultimate grow. He has some of the best info on the net regarding dwc IMO

My water level in my dwc is just below the bottom of the net pot. Are you talking about filling the whole bucket up? Or what not understanding "to the rim" means could you clear that up?

The ression I do this is because you want the roots to look for the o2 and have the bubbles pop at the bottom of the net pot to keep my rockwool moist
