Still learning so take this as a newbie question...
I though trichomes turning amber shows that THC is decaying to CBN (less useful, gives a groggy & messed up feeling).
We tolerate some Amber because we want to give extra time for clear trichomes to turn cloudy (max THC)
A perfect harvest would be 100% milky trichomes, max potency and no CBN (Christian Broadcast Network)
Amber is easier to see and used as a marker for the upper limit of what is tolerable overripe. Somehow Amber got misunderstood as THE goal by some people and the misinformation spread. I get more confused about harvest time because
trichomes seem to ripen from the top down and from sugar leaves in.
Not sure about all this, trying to understand harvesting, and maybe I brain farted in your Journal.
