I wouldn't run a lot of water through but like mephisto said that presoak will work until you get it back to normal. Water evenly until you get some runoff and let it set an hour to moisten the surrounding soil and then water again to make sure it is distributed. After that, just try not to let it dry out.

I prefer not to start a lot of controversy but I am not a big fan of the wet dry cycle. I believe someone invented it to keep newbs from over watering their plants and it has been passed down so much now it is common practice. From everything I have read doing research most people that grow plants, vegetables, what have you for a living all say you want a consistently moist soil. Not saturated but not dry either. The more consistent your environment is, the less stress the plant will have and the better the development will be. That is just what I have seen from my experience. Some people will swear by the wet/dry cycle.

I checked both plants and even though they got 1/2 gallon yesterday (who knows how much of it ran off) they were pretty dry in the upper couple of inches of soil. I gave both plants a whole gallon to make sure I got all the nooks and crannies with 5ml of Equilibrium & 10ml of G.O. CaMg+. I'll check the soil daily, how far down into the soil you scrape aside to check the moisture? An inch? Inch and a half?

I could not agree more brother Foreman.AE,dude,if yer using a 3 gallon pot roughly use a surfactant and do what A4 says.thats what I do too.a cup er two and let it soak in.go burn one and come back and use a surfactant and either drop the whole pot into a five gallon bucket and wait till the bubbles stop then let it drip the excess off and then set it in a tray and dump any standing water that shows up over an hour or so.thats awesome man.reallt really great trick.ESPECIALLY if your further into flowering or veg and all rooted out and there is often a small dry pocket or two..albeit small.but there in many ppl's grows. so the the water lube LOL! and/or a soaking will work like a frigin chamo each time.you should only have to do it twice in flower..maybe more if youd like then brew a tea with the water.or whatever LOL! hows the soil woring going for you? did you find what you needed when ya mailed me some time ago for adding to the soil dude?..

and for the best reading is two things.weight of the pot and a 12 inch long moisture meter.a decent one or a cheap one should work if ya maintain it decently.but that'll get the middle of the pot and the lower 2/3 - 3/4 of the pot and thats where them smaller dry pockets tend to be.

and fork your soil n break up ALL them charcoal pieces, and crusty whatevers and fluff it up nicely then a a surfactant n youll be golden.solve that dry pocket spell you prolly got..or stave off any that are making themselves riiight at home lol

Ahh, I really just scruff it up a little bit. Maybe an inch, sometimes less. The problem I tend to see is because I let my plants get 6' tall or so, my roots really fill the container so I can't dig down too far without damaging roots. Sometimes my roots are right at the top, in that case I just poke a small finger in and see what it feels like.

I definitely need to get a moisture meter as this will take all the guess work out of things.

I have done anything with my soil because I've been slacking super hard. I really need to get on that as soil is running low.

Now that I'm not letting the pots get dried out before watering I'm giving them a half gallon every two days. Does this sound about right? I water 32oz at a time and leave a couple of hours between waterings to let things get good and wet.

I had a pretty scary incident happen today. I watered the plants this morning but noticed the top of the Sugar Mango Ryder is bleached so took it down from it's improvised lift and went about my day. My grow partner went to pull the plant out to give them the 2nd part of the watering and the branches got tangled causing the HBSS to lean drastically and almost topple. The buds are heavy and swollen so they flopped all the way horizontally and everything generally looked like ass. I freaked out and smoked a bowl but went to work with pipe cleaners and got everything standing up again. Luckily none of the branches actually snapped so this shouldn't be a huge deal. On the plus side I got to see the buds lit up from the side and sweet Jesus are they frosty. This one's a winner!

Yeah, all my HBSS had their branches tied up for support so they wouldn't drop from the weight of those heavy buds.

I see allot of vids all PHOTOs but like GHS they say to let the pot dry real good bla bla ..what they are doing is killing off some of the roots on the outside like root pruning to make the roots grow inward ..but with the photos the roots have time to regrow ..with autos its just a waste ..I have tred many ways to get the pot evenly watered .I like to fill from the bottom pan and let her sponge it up then next water the top and flush out the solids the next water.but you want to make sure you have plenty of AIR in the water ...Right now Im testing pots with no holes or drain...working so far.
