Hello AFN,

This thought has crossed my mind earlier today, after looking at my plant.

Has anybody ever kept track or a record of how many times they have watered and fed their autoflower?

I am growing in a 1.2L tupperware, which I have blocked the light with tape, to prevent roots to get any light. I have watered her about 22 times, and fed her about 9 times now.

I understand that too much water probably have made my plant small, but I do not mind it, since this is my very first grow. I will definitely use a lot of tactics and information I have learned from this grow, into my next grow.

How big is/was your growing container(s), and do you remember how many times you have water and fed your plant(s)?

I feed 10-15 times per grow in 2-3 gal pots. i had a red posion that i had in a 1 gal that i water over 20 times but i deleted my feed log by mistake or i could tell you exactly how many. my bigger pots can noramlly go one feed per week until they get into flowering around week 6 then they normally feed twice a week until flush. :Sharing One:actual water counting the first weeks and last weeks would be about 20-25

Over a 12 week growing period, I generally average 12 - 14 feedings/waterings. Less frequently when the plants are small, more frequently as they grow and utilize the nutrient faster. Your soil mix, pots and type of lighting also factor in. Compacted soils take longer to dry. Air pots dry faster than regular nursery pots. Smaller pots dry faster than larger ones. Plants under HPS lighting with their higher heat will dry faster. Point being there are no hard and fast rules on when to water. Just get a feel for your pots when they are almost completely dry and only water when they feel like that. Then give enough so 10% runs out the bottom of the pots.

I write everything down no matter how small it may seem. I even printed off weekly planer templates to help. If anything is changed then its noted down. I like to think i can remember stuff, but 6-months down the line the brain goes foggy and it only take seconds to write it down. Great to look back on if growing the same strain.

I start my germination tonight after a few years away and in front of me is a list of items bought totaling 70.89, a list of what I have done to the soil and any extras, and a list of needed items. This covers 4 A4 bit of paper and I have not even started yet lol

Thank you all for the information.

I have read that for Coco, all the runoff water must be discarded, and that it is safe to let the runoff be absorbed from the bottom for soil.
Before I knew about this, I have always let the rest of the runoff be absorbed through the bottom. Should I still allow this to happen? Or should I put into practice to dump out the runoff water?

Dump the run off. One of the reasons for giving that extra 10% is to flush salts, which are a bi product of nutrient utilization, out of the soil. By letting the run off sit and be reabsorbed you are taking those waste salts back up into the soil.
