New Grower Trapper's Scrimmage Grow (Semi-Micro)

Looking mighty sweet brother, and I really mean that!
I have a feeling you are going to have a very fine ' scrimmage' grow, and be pleasantly surprised by some real fruit.

Keep journaling my friend, it is awesome to go back to the beginning of your journey/journal, and see how far you will have come.

Can't remember if I told you before (hey I'm old), but I can already see that you are going to be a natural at this. You will so see that all the great questions that you asked/researched will have paid off. Cool thing about growing is there is no end to the learning and applying it. Great hobby with awesome benefits.

Stay safe.

Okay...

I mixed up a pot of:

70% Fox Farms Happy Frog Potting Soil
29% Perlite (rinsed)
.95% Dolomite Lime
.05% Great White Mycos
- Incorporated thoroughly

Filled the Airpot - with about an inch to go, I put down a light layer of GW Mycos, then topped with final inch of soil

Scuffed the bean with 2000grit, soaked it for about 6 hours in Room Temp. 3Xfiltered, RO water

Pinkied a hole about 1/2" down in the middle, put a dash of GW Myco down there
Plopped the soaked seed down there, covered it up, pressed the mixture down just a tiny bit.
Got some oxygenated water into my measuring Nalgene, moistened the seed site
Refilled the Nalgene and put a base fill on the rest of the pot, being careful to deliver the water
in a ring on the outer edge to not drown the bean. after a couple minutes, I got just a smidge of run-off

So, I figure it's nice and moist but not soaking.

Got the light hung, the fan hung, the extension cord laid out, the power snake hooked up, battery put
in the temp/RH monitor, air pump and stones in the water reservoir and going...everything except the
walls and mylar, which get here Saturday.

On to the Pics!:

Full Height Shot-(Better be a stubby plant or I'm going to have to get creative...)

Water Reservoir and air-pump...pumping - Check

Little closer-

Fan position-

This is where the "Magic Happens"-

...And this is what concerns me...22% R/H That seems awfully dry to me - and 70º F not particularly balmy.
Hopefully, when I get her boxed in with mylar, the LED will bring the temp up a little bit.

I know it's just a cheesy little one-plant operation, but I'm Psyched! Official bean drop: 7:00PM MST 4/23/14

Hey Trap, first off a BIG congrats on the bean drop! It never gets old to me.

I'm sure you know this, but you really need to get that temp up to right around 80 F. Very important while your bean is germing.
I have had to put small ceramic heaters with thermostats in my tent, cabs, and flowering room. Not sure if you are planning on a 24/0 light schedule or not. Remember any time your led is off your temps will drop even further.

You may want to try a 'ghetto' humidifier. Either keep a damp towel or a large wet sponge(in a plastic bag) hanging up in your cab, and a bowl of water on the floor.

Stay Safe.

I'll be running 20/4 and be off for the hottest part of the day (3PM-7PM or 4PM-8PM) when the house is radiating all the heat it absorbed throughout the day.

I'm just not getting any heat off this 90W LED....

Would it help to move the light down to like 8"-10" to try to bring the temp up at the soil level?
It has been warming up in general...today was just a cruddy day outside.

We'll see what happens, in the meantime I'n going to bump up the thermostat a bit ;)

I put the monitor on top of the soil and R/H has jumped to 37% so at least it's more humid there...
Temp rising slightly - 72º

Once I get this boxed up, everything should improve...

WOW, wet rag in a bag is bringing the R/H up quite a bit...42% and climbing.

Awesome start man. I'm halfway through my first grow and it gets more exciting as you go. Subbed in for this one.

Now I just need one of these....

Hey Trapper - sorry I´m a bit late to the party, I´m really excited to see you grow this DD bro! Nice tidy set up you have there too. Heres to a successful grow mate :vibes:

Looks awesome man im subbed lets hope we get purple if not shes a stunning plant :) great to lst and she likes to dry right out before watering good luck :) :) :)

Looking good Trapper.
If you want to help keep temps stable in the pot, put some saran wrap on top.
It'll keep the moisture in as well.
I do this when germinating my veggies. Great results.
