Trapper
Rocky Mountain...High
To share my experience, since it almost sounds similar to your's... I dried mine hanging up in my tent for 3 days, and I rotated them so they weren't getting too much fan on either hanger.. Well, 3 days, and the outsides feel like they would crumble off on some of the smaller ones, and my RH hadn't gone about 45% the entire time, so I threw them in the jars with the hygrometers and Bovedas in the mid-morning.. That night, went to bed, humidity was up to 60%-ish.. I wake up the next day, my humidity spiked to almost 80% over night, even with the 60g Boveda!!! I took all of the bud out and sealed the Bovedas back up to make sure they were working right.. I threw all of my buds in a paper bag with the top open, back in my tent with the fan blowing over the top of the bag.. Next morning I woke up, RH of about 40%, threw them in the jars and by that night, both jars were up in the 50's, one almost in the 60's.. Next morning, both jars are resting between 60-62%.. Since then, the only times they went over 65% was when I left a jar in my truck for a couple hours not thinking it was gonna matter, and the temp was at 90F and humidity in the jar was 67%, but when they cooled down, everything normalized again..
Not sure if that helps, or make any sense to you, but figured after reading your stuff that it sounds like almost the same thing happened to you, as it did to me!!
How's it tasting after a few days of normal drying??
It does help because it shows me that it can spike, which it did with me....you also removed and dried with a fan running over the top, something I did today in the jars for an "ultra-burp"
I put all the hygrometers side by side and left them for about an hour....I was dead wrong about them all being on the same page...at least now.
The two little ones were higher than the primary "grow" Hygrometer (with temp) like 8% and 6% higher...
As I am calibrating them with the salt/water technique, they seem to be getting closer to each other the higher up they go now the variance between the three is only 5%
The little ones were in the jar, so there is every reason to believe the two little ones aren't as accurate and are high...they vary 2% to 4% from each other.
We'll see when the salt test is done, which ones are closest to 75% then we'll know which one to trust.
BUT, if the little guys are, in fact, the least accurate then that means my high readings were actually exaggerated and the bud is well within range for common Boveda curing now. 63%-68% aprox.
Regular burping procedure from here on out.
As to taste:
Funny you should mention that....
I just pulled out a littler nug and sparked it (very first taste of this mature bud, first real taste of my first, finalized grow). Jesus, first off...hit the head and shoulders within 15 seconds with a nice pain-erasing numbness. And it's been coming on like a freight train for the last 20 minutes.Very high now, as I write this. As to taste...not much to speak of yet, just some nice incense undertones and a slight citrus pop at the back end....notably not harsh or course. Little peppery in the middle. Decent expansion. Scent is fantastic....fresh red grapes and citrus with an undertone of sugar sweetness.
