Yes. that is true buddy. They grow plentiful a an hour or so from here where the clmate is warmer. You can grow them here too, but they are not all over the place growing wild like in warmer places.
I think it might help using bigger containers - dust-bin size?
(søplekasse size..) TALLER & bigger, i have an about
150-200 liter tall plastic-container goin on!
The bigger the volume, the longer it takes to dry out, aaand double labour..
I will def. use water-retaining crystals also, and cover the surface
of the container with a thick layer of bark, grass & stuff…less
evaporation! Think like 10-12 Cm. . . . .
Still,my main consern would be security . i mean; can you
see me danglig around 14 meters up in a fuckin fir, with water-
hoses and stuff… and then some nice blueberry-collectors shows up!
And all those mushroom people…..
and some wire... an old frame based backpack and some "suction" connector line and assemble!
Another thing I just thought of: with something like a "hempy" system using perlite or some other lght medium... and using a forementioned pump system... wouldn't that save a lot of lifting weight up the tree? fill wither perlite vermiculite mix and pump the water up... just a thought.
thats for "priming"... meaning you need to be 8 vertical feet or less from your water source.
output is 40PSI (plus if need be the pressure switch can be bypassed... thats the switch-off setting by default)
40 PSI / .0433 lbs / sq in per vertical foot equals: 92 vertical feet... minus line loss.. call it safe at 65' vertical capacity (wihin pump switch limits)
with a bypassed switch I know these pumps will deliver up to 60-70 PSI....
65 PSI say / .0433 = 150 vertical feet... call line loss 25 PSI (a lot).. still 125 feet off ground... you can climb that shit if you want... 20 feet is good for me! lol
Beautiful setup Bum! Beware of birdwatchers! Evil, half-nutters who enjoy capturing birds and mark them with heavy chains. The mushroom people is no worries, they arent in the forest and usually have their eyes focused on the ground and their mind not focused at all.
Reagarding watering and pumps, you guys seem like you got it all figured out. I kinda like to play it simple. My forrest is not extremly remote either, so more stuff in the tree means less stealth..... If I was younger and had a ton of time on my hands I would try some kinda pump or drip system, but for now I will just put the seeds in the soil and water during drought.......
Would be awesome if someone else tried it out though. I saw a video on youtoube with someone that uses drip system, and he had waaaaay bigger plants than me.
