is there a low cost tool to view trichromes? I was told when the trichromes go from straight to bending over that's when to harvest. does that sound correct? thanks

Usually the lowest costing option is a magnifying loupe, the bigger you can get the easier to see the trichomes. Harvesting should be done after examining trichomes color (the bulb looking head). To my knowledge nobody looks at the stalks of the trichomes, since they do not contain THC, the heads do,
I'm I had a cheapie scope and well it worked but too much time making it focus and what not. Now I have a 420 scope and I like it alot
thanks for helping. yes I want to buy the 420 scope $25. I exspect. and I guess im looking for swelling with amber or brown around 75% of bud area.then harvest right away. but don't harvest when trichromes are clear.

Another option if you've got a decent smart phone with camera is the little clip on macro lenses. You can get a generic set that has a couple different macro lenses for under 20 bucks through Amazon and similar sites.
I did not do good at first try with my 420 scope. any tips on how you use yours? I think you have to get the scope into the bud to see. then its small so difficult to focus and hold still. I will try to get better with it.
I had to take off the white plastic piece of the 420 scope. because you have to get really close. or stuff what your viewing inside it,which didn't work for me. then I had to clip off a piece of leaf that has trichromes.lay that on a white surface. now I was able to catch a few images of the trichromes with this 420 scope. still very difficult and not what I expected. I would like to be able to look at trichromes without touching. I don't see anything on the market.

are you joking? thats what i use and its not hard to get neither expensive. You may have to get closer but thats no problem. its not a fancy microscope neither but will totally do the job well.
