hey guys will my trim lose potency over time just sitting in a mason jar?

i have about an ounce of trim from my blue velvet just sitting in a mason jar in a cabinet and its been there about 3 months....will the edibles i make from it be just as potent as they would have if i used it sooner/right after harvest? is it becoming less potent over time since its not in the freezer or anything? :Sharing One:

thanks guys.

If its completely dry and ya stick it in there with a 62% boveda pack it'll be juuust fine.in fact if you put in there like you would a bud lets say.kind of a curing if you will.it will properly decarb if yer storing if for time and would potentially be better and stronger as it matures.so YUP imo go for it.

Fweedom, I just did a batch of cannamilk using 2 month old popcorn shake that was curing with a 62 Boveda, and it is "one shot glass" mega-potent! It was from a purple Kush photo run, and I swear that shake is half again better than the (already enjoyed) top bud. Before simmering the milk, I decarbed the shake in a cookie pan- oven at 220 degrees, for 45 minutes. One shot glass makes my back pain melt for 4-5 hours.. if I stay awake...

I too find the sugar leaf trim to be as strong as the bud so I now longer trim buds that will go into oil, except for fan leaves. I let the buds and leaves dry to very dry, then let it age a bit before making oil. Going to make my first try at making hash from trim soon too!

alright thanks fellas :d5:, it doesnt lose potency if it gets super dried out does it? And when its bone dry isnt that actually better for making edibles or is that wax?

i had all the trim just left out in a brown bag for several weeks and kind of forgot about it so it dried pretty much as much as it could then i remembered it and just tossed it in a mason jar without a boveda and thats where its been

As long as it wasn't subjected to a lot of light or heat, it should be fine. Your paper bag might have a pile of broken off triches in there, but most all concentrate/edible methods will be stripping the triches of their good stuff, so dry isn't a problem. I didn't mention in my earlier post, but after decarbing mine, I freeze it in a mason jar for at least an hour, usually overnight.
You're making me want to do a BHO (butane hash oil) run.... Mmmmmmm

As you use up your trim decant into smaller jars if it is likely to be hanging around for a long time.
A large volume jar with a small amount of trim will allow the THC to oxidize over time which turns the THC into CBN which can cause headaches.
Like eyes on fire mentioned dried THC carboylizes as the THC-A (THC acid) dries it transforms into the more psychoactive Delta 9-THC, which is awesome, you can also gently heat cannabis to carboxylize it if your making tinctures.
As a general rule any thing smoke-able doesn't last long round these part to worry about that degradation of THC.
Freezing cannabis in a vacuum bag has the least degradation @2% over 2 years.
