GB, checked the link you posted, it says the lights are rated for 120 volts. Is that also what the sticker on the fixture indicates and is that your household voltage?

Nahh man, I am just an old bored dude that gets in a lot of trouble if he don't stay inside and away from society. So, here I am. I get in trouble a pretty good bit here too but they are more forgiving here than the police.

Anyways, enough about me, let's talk about you. That link you sent looks like it should work perfect for a home in the US. There should be a couple of clips on the fixture housing that hide the ballast. If you want to do some surgery we can see if you have a problem with the fixtures or if you are drawing too much current on your outlet. Take a picture of the inside of the fixture, how the ballast is wired and post it up here and I can make sure everything looks fine before you send another one back.

Sounds to me like there's a short in the ballast. not terribly uncommon if fluorescent light. open it up and check the wiring also.

wth? did i smoke myself back in time? is this 1998 all over again?lol i went through the same with those crappy t5's back in the day took em out put back in my HID lights and said to hell with them!! and never had a prob again. the funny thing is that my 1000watt hid had a much higher draw then the t5's soo explain that. and i gotta be honest and say im suprised to see that you would use them at all at this point as from what i can see L.E.D's and cfls seem to be rocking the plants with decent draw. heck i would even go back to hid b4 the t5's. i gotta ask what your reasoning is behind the switch? you seemed to be getting great results on your last 2 grows?!

Blue is correct. Just wanting to use them as supplemental side lighting so I can tighten up those popcorn buds on the underside of the canopy

I love T5 fixtures. Great spectrum, excellent coverage for small spaces, low heat in enclosed areas and cheap.

Try to light up a 8 foot x 4 foot area with an LED when you only have 4 foot of head space. There are applications for everything and it is up to the individual gardener to determine what best suits his/her needs.
