Lighting Tripping The Circuit

I always run a dedicated circuit breaker and line in grow rooms. I use a lot of amps though. My 2 cents always be safe.......

no doubt that everyone has a method to thier madness. hence me asking why he decided to go with them as his last 2 grows went great. you know..why fix it if it is not broke.lol as i am obv new to autoflowers im just trying to pick as many brains as possible and who better then bandit? and as i can only validate and sympathize with bandits issues i had to ask? and just like every individual gardner can determine what is best for thier needs sometimes the way to those ends is through asking questions and getting feedback. if my attempt at humor was ill or mis understood i appoligize! bandit and i have joked back and forth in the past soo i figured he'd get it!!

No worries! It may read a little harsh but you nicely replied saying it was cool.

On subject. The fact that they worK and then don't bugs me.
You are plugging into a known good outlet when you retry them after they blow out the breaker at the tent location, yes? Is there any noticeable smell afterward? I notice a remote control as an option, was/is there any static electricity involved that may have affected the circuits for that?

That at is all I can think of for now.

I grew with T5s as my only light source for years and had some awesome plants. No problems with electrical issues or anything like that. They have their pluses and minuses just like every light. Lots of people have problems with LEDs and HIDs blowing out and tripping breakers, but that's bound to happen given all the variables that can occur from one grow setup to the next.

i just want to be very clear. im not doubting the effectiveness of t5 lighting! like i said i gave it a try but like bandit had problems with it tripping the circut breaker constantly. soo i switched to hid at the time..which was back when i first started growing over 10yrs ago hence the exageratred "1998" comment. was not trying to mock it or bandit it anyway! the fact that he is using it as a side light is super cool.

No worries GB, I wasn't calling you out. Just pointing out that Bandit's problem isn't something that should keep anyone from trying T5.

I thought I had found the perfect side lighting setup, too! Oh well, when I get home, I'll post some pics, and I'm confident you guys will be able to help me get lights up and running

Hi GB, gave your problem so more thought and here is what I think may be going on.

When the outlets in your tent were installed the polarity was reversed in the outlets. When you plug the lights in your kitchen outlet which is wired correctly (has to be since it is GF type) the lights work. You plug them in your tent where the polarity is switched and it causes damage to the digital ballast and creates a short circuit in the electronics. You plug them back in at your kitchen outlet and now it trips the GFI because of the short.

You can test with a tester like this one from Lowes for about $8.00
Polarity Tester

Here are some pics. I'll try to open it up, too

Just let me know what else you need to see pics of, and I'm on it.
