Maintaining a mom is easy Muddy . Have kept moms for several years until I found something better . My best mother box was a simple 4x4x4 box with 4" floros in the corners standing up . provided more cuttings than I could use .

Btw , thinking aero myself for a future project (or 2) . gonna try a mini cloner using the aero method . And may convert one of my totes to aero to try it out on growth/bloom . DWC has worked well for me , but maybe aero will do a little better . Would be interesting to do a side by side comparison .

my problem is that i need to keep the res and most of the water outside the grow space in order to do proper temps for a co2 grow inside the tent. otherwise i will have a dirty nasty res at 80-85 degrees. im wondering if anyone has any good photo strains to recommend for maximum sog setup with only top colas growing.

I'm not too concerned about maintaining the mothers. I'll probably have an area about 3 x 3 to use. Should be big enough for 3-4 in small pots.

One I intend to try is Night Shade. I grew it outdoors this year and it was my favorite out of the 8 strains I grew. I topped it twice and ended up with a very even canopy top. Got 13 buds off of it, all between 13 - 15" long. Very little popcorn and relatively easy to manicure. I also liked the structure of both Pineapple Chunk and WOS Amnesia. They both look like good candidates as well. Big, tight buds and not much popcorn.

was looking at using this and switching to HPS when i move to have 2 flower chambers and just get a third tent to run mom/clones run a 2x4 tray for the clones and just put the moms in soil.

in theory if this watercooled HPS works then i could put a pump for both lights into the common 50 gal res and still get the same effect as having a 50gal res for watercooling one light. might have to increase to a 75 with residual heating but maybe this will work for a nice operation on a small circuit scale.

what the led guru switching to hps? naw just messin, but yo tshirt love what your doing man i'll def be checking this one everyday!

looking pretty cool there Ninja, looks like you've really thought this out

so what's the final plan for lighting? is it the 400w hps or the 600w? or both maybe  :D hehe

my final plan is to flower these with my led's to show yields then do the next under HPS to start working the kinks out of that watercooling system. My final plan for production sake is to use a flip flop box to run 2 600w HPS off of one ballast on 12/12 for both tents alternating since I cannot upgrade the power box at the grow. once i get my own condo that will change but I love the notion of this flip flop plan. I should be able to stagger it so that I get new bud every 3-4 weeks at around 3/4 to a full pound. I will run some autos in with the mama's and the clones for fun but autos will strictly be for fun at this point. i used them to learn a lot and to show me how to "underlove" my ladies properly with nutrients and waterings since they are so sensitive. once i switch over to something like a northern lights cross i will be able to easily pull off some MASSIVE hauls. I will always stay here though as i love this place.

oh and when i have mothers in my mama area they will be under t5ho while the cuttings and rootings are under led. led will always be around for me.

that's an awesome lighting idea, my only concern would be that of temperature

i for example have my light in my photo grow on from 7pm to 7am because it avoids the hot australian summer temperatures during the day and means i don't need additional cooling during the day

if you were to have your lights off and on depending on which grow was lit at the time, one of them may consistently be warmer than the other during lights on

i guess you could see what the difference in harvest and yield might be but it mightn't be the greatest idea

might just be better to spend the $50 or less even for a cheap magnetic ballast for the second lamp,m or even check craigslist for a second hand digital ballast

nah its a power grid problem. I am putting these big setups in a location where i cant change the breaker box. now once i get my condo then yes i can put a dedicated 30-40amps but im working off of 15 working amps so flip flopping the ballast is for that. I have plenty of dough thats not the issue lol. these panels didn't come THAT cheap. i think once you see the setup you'll see what im talking about. the temps are not a big deal though. that's why im water-cooling the light. the water transfers the heat and the reservoir will evaporate more from the heat. you just replace the lost water and the system doesn't need to be chilled if done on a big enough res. the surrounding air will be 75 so the water will keep that tent around 80-85 tops, which is what i want if i start pumping co2 into the tent. if you have co2 transfers then you need to keep your tent between 85-95 for it to be max efficiency.
