Hi,

Recently, a few free seeds arrived and among them were 3 World of Seed's Northern Light X Big Bud Autos, and a single Dinafem Haze Automatic.

I've been wanting to test out a new piece of lighting in a simulated "closet grow", just to see how much can be had in a limited area.

Originally all three NL x BBs were started, but when one failed to germinate the Haze was subbed in favor over some the Pakistan Ryders I also got. I've heard NL x BBs can get large, where as the Paki-Ryders typically don't, and the Haze seemed to be a perfect fit... But we'll have to wait & see as plant genetics will do what they do.

Grow Medium: 3 gallon Plastic pots with Fox Farm's Ocean Forest Soil
Nutrients: The General Organics line (The GO Box)
Area: 36" x 24" el Cheapo tent.
Lighting: LED (Pro-Grow 260X)

NL x BB #2 (day 24 in pic), the first to declare at day 18 from seed, and #1 a few days behind her at day 20.

Today at 21 days from seed, the Haze sported her first female flowers (and is 2 weeks behind the NL x BBs).

I also began LST on the 2 NL x BBs earlier this week and should have more pics up soon!

She looks like a very happy plant. I have had great results with lst, I'll be interested to see how yours turns out.

Howdy greenthumper,

So far, so good!

I am amazed at how like clockwork, these autos kick in at about 3 weeks. The Dinafem Haze has just flowered at 17 days, so we are "go" on all 3 plants blooming.

NLxBBa #1, all "bent & twisted"

Now I focus on getting size & mass. I hope the new lighting in conjunction with the GO nutrients kick things up!

Last week was week 6 (from seed) and week 3 since sporting the first pistils for the 2 Northern Light x Big Bud Autoflowers and the Haze Automatic is at 4 weeks from seed. In the few days since this video, the Haze Auto has caught up with the NL xBBs in size, but not density or mass... yet!

Thus far I'm really liking the General Organics nutrients! The bottles in the "GO Box" suck for pouring... Well, I tend to drip and spill it anyway. The main thing though, the plants seem to thrive with these nutes!

The Dinafem Haze Auto

I'm really liking what I'm seeing! This thing has been a little firecracker since day 1 and has showed no signs of slowing.

I'm still concerned as to the size we'll obtain, all three began to bloom at the end of week two from sprouting.

Thriving under the LEDs, the Haze Auto puts on some rapid growth

Furious growth & branching is giving way to rapid blooms.

Northern Light x Big Bud Autoflower #1, the Dense Pheno.

Six weeks from seed and less than 20 days into bloom the two Northern Light x Big Bud Autos are nearly identical in size and appearance, the only notable exception is node spacing. Plant #1 is much lankier than #2, though they are about the same size. In the last few days, the first trichomes beegan dotting the young blooms & leaves.

Week 6, Northern Light x Big Bud Autoflower #1

Week 6, Northern Light x Big Bud Autoflower #2

I'm concerned that I LST'd the NLxBBs too late in veg, as their growth is becoming way dense, and the stems & branches too breakable at this point to do any more bending.

I'm still hoping for more size!

Great growing endive I'm subbed up :thread: :smokeit:

The pics are from late week 7 (from seed) for the 2 Northern Light x Big Bud Autoflowers and the Haze Automatic at 5 weeks from seed. This puts the NL x BB at about 4 weeks into bloom, and the Haze at about 2.5 weeks.

Week 7 from seed, 4 weeks into budding, Northern Light x Big Bud Autoflower

Up to this point, the grow has been as simple as adding water. The “G.O.” nutrients are easy to use & the results are evident in just days. I’ve not checked pH once and have no plans to. Lighting set-up couldn’t have been simpler either, the Pro-Grow 260X was just plug & grow. I currently have the lamp about 24″ above the plant tops, light coverage & saturation is solid for the area.

The aroma from the Haze Auto can only be described as "magically unique"!

Dinafem Haze Automatic, End of week 2 Bloom, Week 5 from seed

Autoflowers will be autoflowers, it’s hard to say what you will get in terms of size & mass, so I find it a common tendency to over-push them with the nutrients... Or maybe it's just me. With everything green, growing & lush, I plan on just continuing to follow the G.O. soil feeding chart. Though the cotyledons have withered, all three plants still have their first leaves which are green & healthy. Ironically they will be trimmed off during the next preening, as I begin to remove under growth.

The Grow Stats
Genetics:
2 – Northern Light x Big Bud Autoflower, from World of Seeds – Week 7 from seed
1 – Haze Automatic, from Dinafem – Week 5 from seed
Lighting: 1 – Pro-Grow 260X LED grow light (260 watts actual draw), fromhydroponicshut.com
Space: 3″ x 2″ x 5″ tall tent (simulated closet space)

My Three Autoflowers

Although small in stature, the Haze Autoflower is an impressive strain. Only at week 5 of bloom, her buds look so dense its like they'll explode.

Week 5 bloom - Haze Autoflower

On the tips of the colas purple tinges are prevalent as well as trichomes and that very distinct aroma! You’ll notice her leaves are yellowing, but her buds continue to swell. I've doubled down on her nutes, and hope for a growth explosion in the final weeks.

Vertical growth has about ceased, now the colas on the Northern Light x Big Bud Autoflowers are thickening in a manner that truly respects the Big Bud namesake. The very tips are going purple as well. Both plants being very light on any smells or aroma should make for a good "stealth" strain.

Looking good at week 7 of bloom, week 8 may be the last...

The breeders for these put bloom time at 56-63 days. I know the Haze Auto has a few weeks left, but the Northern Light x Big Bud autos are already showing milky trichomes, with another week to go before week 8...

IMG_2400NLxBBwk7bl-533x400.jpg

...the majority of trichomes may go amber... :smokebuds:

Looking very happy endive. Keep it growing. Much luck with the rest of her fatten up.
One love:bong:

Weeks 8 & 6 of bloom

A quick flushing and a final boost of organic nutrients has sent both Northern Light x Big Bud Autoflowers into overdrive. Over the past week new green calyxes with fresh white pistils are emerging from a trichome encrusted bed of purple tipped, red haired calyxes. With about 30% – 40% to trichomes milky and a few dotted amber, I’d planned on harvesting this upcoming weekend at the official point of week 8 bloom. With the new growth spurt, I may run them go a little longer…

In contrast the Haze Autoflower at just week 6 of budding is looking like she’s done.

Week 6 of bloom, 9 from seed - Haze Auto

Trichomes from different parts of the plant show crystal clear all the way through amber, most of the change occurring on the sugar leaves, as the calyx trichomes are for the majority, clear. Water & nutrient uptake has slowed in comparison to the NLxBBs, and though she has greened up a bit and added some new white hair bursts, I think all that awaits is the trichome color change to about 50-70% milky.

Trichome transformation... Leaf trichomes from the Haze Autoflower

The plants are short, so the proportions are hard to show with the camera, but with colas larger than Red Bull cans (on the NLxBBs) and another week or two to go, I am very pleased with the combined results of the plant’s genetics, the lighting and the 'GO nutrients'.

As soon as space opens up, I’ll be putting one other autoflower beneath it from my Northern Light Autoflower seed collection as it may be the long coveted phenotype (lanky purple) of the Northern Light auto line.
