Harvest & Curing Two types of buds structures?

,while the biggest part of buds "tightening" up is due to genetics, there is some amount due to light and environment,...,

I have no proof but I agree with this completely, I would also add in nutrients as a factor. I have an acquaintance that grows under 1000W HPS and uses the whole AN lineup, all indica leaning strains, and without a doubt his buds are denser and more compact then any I have ever seen. as a mater of fact his buds are so dense i always feel like I am getting ripped off when I leave his house, but it weighs out right every time but a dense nug does not mean that it is more potent or taste better. my lighter nugs are much more aromatic and just a better smoke in my opinion, (and his too I might add).

Soooo true ,thru further research and growing I realized I forgot to include the nutrient factor, this is one more reason most growers try and cut out all/most nitrogen during the flowering cycle, good call on that info..Peace..

In my estimation, we are not looking at the difference between the way buds grow; we are looking at the difference between hand-trimmed and machine trimmed bud.

I live in one of the legal states, and recently we are seeing a whole lot more machine trimmed bud. The machines are expensive to own or rent and are usually just used by the larger growers. The process seems to knock off all the sugar leaves, trichomes and hairs that generally makes up the outside surface of the bud.

I just bought some weed locally that looks just like the last two pics. The growers are not just selling bud; they are machine trimming buds and selling pounds of keif and sugar trim to the outfits that are producing commercial oil or edibles for sale. Check it out:

I just found this video of the new "T4 Dry Trimmer" for cannabis. Whoever grew the weed I'm smoking used one of these machines for trimming.

Some things about legal weed are actually almost scary...:nono:

Good for business....

The bud in the 3rd pic I believe is heavyweight fruit punch try that

Does anyone know of any auto strains that consistently produce buds like the 3rd and 4th pics? If you've grown any, feel free to share pics.

Can't vouch for consistently yet as I've only grown it once but Candy Kush from Auto Seeds produced some buds that look and feel like proper Kush buds (the dense ones) rather than the giant fluffy ones. Smokes like a nice Kush too:pass:

Will try to get pics.....

I've had super skunk like that, not real big buds but lots of smaller tight packed buds.

Remembered to do some pics.....these strains were grown under the same light, at the same time, with the same nutes, trimmed by the same person and then photographed with the same camera and settings.

Himalaya Orange Diesel left and Candy Kush right:

Close ups both done at 1x magnification with a macro lens so these next shots are done to the same scale....
