So i've been growing with LED for around five years now, using a DS200 (draws 185w, using 3w diodes with 60/90/120 degree lenses) from which i've achieved great results. My needs are modest and growing in the UK, I need to keep it on the lowfly. I grow in a 2x2x4ft tent and grow one plant at a time, which I LST from an early age, spreading the canopy out so that by the time my plants are in flower they fill the available space/tent from wall to wall.
The issue I have is that with 4ft height clearance, by the time i'm in full flower my canopy is around six inches from the panel with the buds no more than a inch. They're really close! I do get bleaching, which isn't uniform and which doesn't see to affect the potency.
My panel is coming to the end of its natural life and i need to think about replacing it. Most modern panels seem to have 5w lenses but i'm worried that if the 3w diodes are already bleaching my plants, will the 5ws be too powerful for my set up?
Does anyone have any experiences with 5w and low height clearance? Should i just get another DS200, which i know I can rely on or is there something using more modern technology that I can replace my current panel with?
