Live Stoner Chat Vegging photoperiods under HPS?

My 2 friends....Most people disagree with me so having a bunch of philosophers on the list won't matter much tbf
Have you ever wondered why the world disagrees with you?
Have you ever had a serious self reasoning discussion?
maybe it's not the world who is disagreeing with you, but you with the world?
And No they are Not the same thing!

Stick to the thread mate, otherwise it ends up like the other crap weed forums with everyone arguing over nothing.

No
No
Lots of things about the world I disagree with but as I said, its someones thread, start another in the philosophy section.

Gentleman, let's both cool our jets here and take five, alright? Please stay on the topic at hand and keep it civil; there's nothing wrong with some debate but it's getting off track and I know you're both good enough guys to keep the AFN vibe, so let's chill, smoke one with me, and get back on track! "AFN smoke out" :peace:

Agreed bros? :karma Cloud:

Can you tell me where in the world gets 24 hours of direct full intensity light?
I thought not..
we have a cyclical clock so do plants.. They evolved that way for millennia.
can they thrive under 24 hours? Sure they can.
Do you want to work 24 hours a Day?
i know I don't want and neither would I force something I love to either.
jahs blessings on those plants that you are overworking.
Most Sharks and Dolphins don't sleep and maybe whales, but Everything else does.
do what you see fit but after 30 years of growing I would never leave a light on for 24 hours a day, for Any plant.
give it a rest..its just what comes natural...
my opinion is based on my feelings for life being plant or animal.
just because something can do something doesn't mean it should.
ITAL is Vital.
a balance is needed in everything.
irie vibes don't come from stress but relaxation.
and yes I am an old timer. I have been planting seeds for three decades. Not a few years.
To answer you directly, 24 hours of light does not have a negative effect,
But like I said earlier do you want to work 24 hours?

NOT ALL PLANTS !

do your homework

i dont care if you have been planting seeds for 3 decades , i have an added decade more then you and i am not saying this about 24 hrs just because its how i feel , it is certain speicies of plants that DO NOT need rest and DO grow more with 24 hrs of light and it is PROVEN

wow thats interesting one of the main reasons i was thinking the MH would be better is because ive been reading a lot about how people have been getting less leggy plants with tighter nodes when vegging under a MH? Anyone else have any experience with vegging under mh vs. hps?

also i planned to run my lights at 18/6 but, im doing 24/0 because i read this in my grow bible...

is this true? or do the plants need a dark period to rest? :dunno:

All I can tell you, is my girls show the most growth in the morning after 6 hours rest. Its visible. I come in the room in the morning and say: DAMN! And I'm here is the room with them most of the day as my pc is not far from them. It seems to me that growth happens after lights out! Obviously this is only an obsrevation and not backed by any science at all. It could also be I've been smoking too much lately....lol!

when steadily growing it is hard to notice

up until a few years ago i vegged 18/6 , to this day i still have a mother plant i had back then , she and her clones grow about 25-30% more under 24 hr lighting

peace

Do plants need a dark period during the vegetative cycle?
By Ed Rosenthal -

Does marijuana require a dark period during the vegetative growth stage? I recently read a grow book that advocated an 18-6 light cycle during the early growth stages.

One way in which plants are categorized is by the way they gather and handle carbon dioxide. Cannabis is a C3 plant. It uses the CO2 it gathers during the light period, when it is photosynthesizing. Plants designated C4 also gather CO2 during the dark period for use during the light period. Many C3 plants, including cannabis, do not need a rest period. They continue to photosynthesize as long as they are receiving light.
The plant's photosynthetic rate determines its growth rate because the sugars are used by the plant to build tissue and for energy. Cannabis under continuous light will grow 33% faster than the same plants on an 18-6 light regime.

24/7 love it! Bob thanks for posting all that up.
For anyone that has run under 24 know what plants do. They blow the freak up!

My 5+ ounce autos in 75 days will show that..... So do the monster photos that I veg. Come 12/12 flip the really blow the freak up!
I will say I see more stress under 24/7 vers 18/6.
I think this has to do with my poor conditions.

Now that's good info!
