Hey AFN,

So I'm thinking of setting a tent up in my shed, I've noticed its not exactly 100% sealed as there seems to be slight gaps running ontop of the walls so air can get in.

I'm thinking of using,
1.2x1.2x2m tent
2x 400w invisiblesun QB boards.
6 or 8" extracter fan & Filter
6" inline fan
Coco coir
11lt pots
Gh flora trio.

I'm considering waiting till end of jan/Feb to start. My main concern is noise but I'm using a dryer in there at the minute and can barely hear it.

I'm just worried about not having a blatant extraction point, considering the size of the shed surely it shouldn't be much of a struggle?

Thinking of building a silencer box for the fan depending what fan I decide to buy.

Is this doable you think? There's a door behind the picture so will be blocking of the front door.

Sq footage looks fine, what's the environment like? Looks wet and cool... neither is a plus.

Its not wet just a shiny floor lol, getting cold in there at the minute though wich is why I thought to wait a little bit longer until peak winter is out the way here in UK, I have a dimmable 1000w hps I could use but worried it'd get too hot in there.

I don't know if humidity would be an issue in there especially when there youngs and I have a humidifier going but maybe dehumidifier could help.

That clothes dryer should be vented. If not you are going to have humidity problems unless there is a lot of air venting at the ceiling? You need to have fresh air or Co² supplementation in a closed space

Get the bigger 8" fan with a variable speed motor. It will be much quieter running at a slower speed than the 6" running faster to move the same amount of air.

Its a condensed tumble dryer so it doesn't need to be vented like a normal one. Seems ok when it's on I just wouldn't use it while plants are in there to avoid humidity issues.

I'll definitely go for the 8" then... Will they be ok then you think? If I'm not exhausting outside? Its a rented property so I cant go knocking holes in walls.

I think you will have humidity problems and you still need fresh air?

Hello mate, I can speak from experience on locating your tent in an out building.
Mine is UK based, in a leaky damp concrete walled and floored with a tin roof and I'll fitting doors.. I grow all year round... The outbuilding is basically the same temp as the outside.
It can be done, however I spend lots of time adjusting heating/input and extraction in the winter to keep the heat up and then you have a completely different set of challenges when summer comes.
Here are my main bits of advice from experience.
1. Use the biggest tent you can afford and fit
(a small space reacts to external temps way quicker than a bigger space. I tried a 2x4 in there and it was a nightmare to dial in. When I changed to a 4x8 it became much easier to dial in and control)
2. Get a fan with a dial speed control, or if you can one with programmable controller so that it adjusts itself depending on temp and humidity.
3. Have every type of environment control to hand ie, oil filled rads with thermostats, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, air con.. I have them all and use the lot throughout the year..
4. Insulate the floor under the tent if it's a cold surface

My shed is currently 1°c but inside my tent inside the shed, it's 23°c and 38% rh so anythings possible mate.

Definitely not trying to put you off, I say go for it buddy... but if your weather throughout the year is UK like, be prepared for a bit of a roller-coaster lol

Thanks for that man, how do you deal with extraction? My biggest worry is not being able to extract outside the building as there's no holes and its not my property to start knocking holes.

The shed itself is more of an outside building/ shipping container looking thing.

I was planning on cramming a 1.2mx1.m tent in there but I guess bigger then, or longer as the building is about 6meter long..

I'm well up for the challenge as I spend far too much time tending to plants Ii was just concerned about the exhausting. I've been told my plants will die trailhead away is I cant exhaust outside.

I don't bother extracting outside the building as its not airtight in the slightest, the input fan sucks from inside the building too, but mine is like a sieve lol
