Water-only microgrow?

How small have you gone with a super soil container, and still had good bud? I'm specifically asking about water-only grows, I'm sure you can go really small when feeding teas.

I have one seedling in a 0.4 liter can, but I'm only expecting it to provide some pollen.
 
Not exactly the answer to your question, but I just heard a relevant podcast on making pollen in tight spaces.

That's really good info by all you guys, thank you!

I planted another seed as a spare, in case the 0.4l male starts to look bad. I think I can still use it, by feeding it some nutrients later on.
