Mephisto Genetics Waterfarm Mephistos - new testers - Fugue State, Forum Stomper, Orange Diesel, Strawberry Nuggets

WF,

Great looking grow and it's nice to see you are running soil with your water buckets. At the end will you detail the yield difference and more importantly the taste difference between soil and hydro?

Generally speaking and from my experience, hydro looks great but doesn't produce it's potential for taste which is 100% my top priority. I'm curious how yours will compare in the finish.

My experience tells me that even the soil that is used causes different flavor to come through. When I run Depth Charge the flavor is off the chain. Potency as well. I have run so many side x side tests to confirm this the owner should owe me free Depth Charge for life. LOL.

I recently experienced a Sour Orange Tangie that was grown in it with just water added. Just opening the jar caused the room to stink for an hour. It wasn't even vaped or smoked. It was truly amazing.

Looking good. Keep it up.

yes I will post yield and discuss any differences in taste and smell. I am extremely interested in any differences to be found in this area myself. If the soil bud really is better enough smelling and tasting (among a few other considerations) then I will become a convert

The soil sister are bangin' dude :d5:. I suppose that they haven't been in the same focus as the waterfarm girls but how do you like growing them so far?

cheers @Ryker604 !! they are pretty plants and I am very pleased with how they are turning out :pighug:

Feed has been water-only with filtered water that comes out of my fridge dispenser that has been filtered again through a BRITA filter in a pitcher. Comes out pH 6.0 - 6.5 and 40 - 40 ppm and seems to remove the need for RO / Bottled water. We shall see how they yield and smoke in the end, but yeah man they have been nothing but a pleasure to grow and I daresay even moreso than the monstrous waterfarm beasties which do require much more effort haha :baked:

Ah so beautiful, all of them!!!

Actually, I doubt there will be much difference, seeing as you're practically feeding them the same? ;)

I think it's less about the actual medium than the way nutrients become available.
The difference starts cropping up when nutrient cycling is taken over by the plant and the soil life, and the plant starts getting the full spectrum of nutrients at the perfect time, lots of which we don't even consider to be such (arsenic being the classic example - plants DO need micro-amounts of that to even be able to stand up!?!). So when the plant gets the full spectrum of nutes it needs at different times - and no, we don't / can't know exactly how much of what when, to actually be able to copy that, ever, though we've come some way with synthetics, and I bow to the expertise with which you make use of them!
Plant-microbe communication is really fast, ornate experiments have shown it's a matter of split seconds between the plant sending a signal and getting the nutrient asked for! And different parts of the root zone have different pHs depending on the type of cycling going on there, simultaneously. Really intricate processes, and that's what brings full nutritiousness to our food too. ;)

Just my 2 cents though, and always prepared to revise my "theories"
So looking forward to how it plays out for you too!! :pass:
cheers!

Actually @calliandra there are pretty huge differences in feed between the waterfarm ladies and the soil sisters, but yeah, how much of a difference that makes in final taste, smell, potency, etc... remains to be seen

remember the waterfarm girls are getting (inorganic)
GH FloraNova Bloom, GH Liquid KoolBloom, GH CALiMAGic, Terpinator

and the soil sisters are getting (organic)
GBD soil amendment in Roots Organics soil (original), Recharge (microorganisms)

Tapwater used is the same, although it is filtered to ~40 ppm ~pH 6.5 for the soil sisters
-- comes out ~70 ppm ~pH 7.0 for the waterfarm ladies but final solution after nutes are added is ~pH 6.0

--also I discovered and used the Recharge product late in the game... the girls have only had one dose last week... I would use Recharge throughout the grow as recommended next time

Thank you for your interest and comments !! :greenthumb: I hope you are enjoying your Cosmic Queens haha I still have some left myself such a great plant :pighug:
