Well. Things are going downhill fast

Hey brother, howzit?? Good to see you’re working with Waira! You’ll get her across that finish line yet!! Definitely don’t give up.

Maybe @Waira can recommend a better PK boost than the Bud Explosion. He’s told me but I can’t find where it is or remember what the recommendation was. Lol! I’m interested myself - particularly if it’s organic or even fairly low numbered. With my switch to organics I won’t use something with numbers as high as BE, even in a pinch, because I heard that it’s detrimental to the microbiology.

I just got some Blumats to try out. I was torn between the Autopots and Blumats but chose the route I did because I can use the Blumats outside as well. Also, I like the top-down feeding idea slightly better. That said, I will absolutely be trying the AutoPots in the near future myself and I think that trying one of the available systems would be a great idea! If money is too tight, you might consider making your own SIPS pots - a poor man’s AutoPot.

On the moisture meter thing - I don’t much care for the A8 probe’s ability to test moisture levels. I’ve had it tell me the soil was still moist enough when the pot felt very light to me. So, on the recommendation of a really amazing organic gardening expert, I got a Blumat Digital Moisture meter and I’m trying it out currently. It seems like a great tool for monitoring the specific moisture content at the depth that you place it at. Once I get a feel for it, I’ll post a review.

@pop22 , I did see they had the smaller size autopots , but the one thing that made me not consider them was the fact that they have those two 2 gallon pots right next to each other... considering how big I’ve seen some strains get in these things... that looks like it could be a potential issue unfortunately.. I saw some outstanding grows with them but I just don’t think I could keep up with training plants the way I’d need to with them right next to each other like that..

ehhh now that I thinking about it I thought I saw someone say you could use the reg autopots & just swap out the actual pots on them? I’d love to make my own if that’s even a thing, has anyone had any luck with that here? I saw they sell their smart valves by themselves

@Waira : I have an updated pictur for ya.. blue amnesia got water today, she looks about the same but it’s does look like she’s trying to get frosty.. I really need her to produce something or it’s gonna be a long wait on these Pineapple Express lol.. any advice? She really looks like she wants to make some buds

@DTOM420 , it’s going ok, the Girl Scout cookies ended up being some incredible bud but there just wasn’t a lot of it. Ok well there’s was an ounce or so but I already went through most of that LOL ..I don’t know if I’m evergonna be able to pull in the yields I need to actually not run out lol. so you went with blumats huh? I’ve never tried them myself but those have been around since way back when I used to grow. They were good then, I bet they’re awesome now too! I can’t wait to see this all in action! Did you start yet?

I definitely am not opposed picking something up instead of BE.. because every time I’ve tried to feed anyone the BE they straight up burn over night.its completely possible I’ve been doing something wrong since this style of feeding Is completely new to me. I honestly did not know about watering and feeding every other time until someone mentioned it here :(

Man, I hear ya about the struggle with BE. I’m in the same boat, kinda. But in my case there are a bunch of issues that have the soil so FUBARed that I can’t really blame the BE 100%. Luckily I don’t have all that much of it and I’m switching to organic only anyway; so I’m going to be using something else. Lots of people love it, though, and have great success with it.

I would absolutely start a journal! This is NOT the journal section. It’s just that your infirmary thread has been acting like one. Go start a real journal for the new plants in either the New Grower Journals section or the Indoor Grow Journal section. Tag me in it so I can find ya!

Those pots are just a cut down of the larger pots, they fit the single bases perfectly. If you order and ask them to substute the smallelr pots, they will. Lol, that's what I had meant.

Lol I’m so sorry it kind of did end up being a journal.. they started out ok and then I guess the drama just never ended with these girls. I am so out of practice not to mention autos and LEDs and stuff is all new to me anyways, it’s been a bumpy ride and I’ll retire this thread when blue amnesia either kicks the bucket or finishes.. let’s go with finishes! So you were using bud explosion with this problem plant ? Did you happen to start a thread for it did I maybe miss that lol, if so where can I find it ? I’m very curious

@pop22 do you think 4 autopots with their 2 gal pots would yield better in a 3x3 with 3 autocobs(will eventually be 4 autocobs)... or do you think 2 autopots with their 3.9 gal pots would yield better in the same thing ? Or do you think that’s just gonna be strain dependent? Hmmm.. I do like variety but not enough to sacrifice future yield potential (cuz I really need to step that up lol)

I think 4 2.2 would give you a better yield, although and of course, that depends on strain, but over all i'd say the smaller pots will yield more. My blue Dragon for example, my best single plant has been 7 ounces but I can easily get 3 oz each in 4 pots. When you grow a, single, big plant its always a gamble as to what your yield will be. You also have less need to do plant training although that may still help with yield. I will soon order some of the 2.2 pots myself to test that idea, i might be able to grow 5-6 plants where I'd grow 2-3 larger plants.

I'm curious, do you feel that a larger pot using soil would be more forgiving to a new grower? Meaning that with more soil there is less chance of deficiencies/burns/ph problems as opposed to a smaller pot. Or does the restricted root ball limit growth enough that it equals out?

Again, that is very strain dependent. Take Mephisto's Strawberry nuggets. More than a 3 gallon pot is probably a waste, 2 gallon may be ideal. Also, organic is slow release for most things in the soil, ad extra N as that's what gets consumed the quickest and with small pots, you can always top dress the pots around the first week of flower. Use a fairly rich mix in small pots and you'll be fine

You can get the 2.2 gal as separate pots. I too do not like the two pots in one tray. So you can order them as a pot, 2.2 gal, and a tray.[/QUOTE]
