What commercial/shop bought compost can I use for compost tea? (UK)

I do it with any compost I'm no pro or anything but it seems to buffer my soil pH when using chemical feeds I'm probably wrong tho but it's working for me I mix soil with water stir like a fucker till it gets a sort of foam on top then water my plants love it.. I've never looked into this before was just an idea I had so I tried it n plants were praying so must do something.. When I use the liquid feed alone my plants never seem as happy as they do with the tea mix thort I'd share it may be of use idk all the best [emoji322]

Okie doke. Basic tea. well go to a nursery that has a fair reputation then buy a bag of cow manure (composted obviously) and a bag of mushroom compost. some molasses no sulfur, some fish ferts like a 5-1-1 from alaskan or similar for veg teas and a similar 0-10-10 for flower additions to your teas. those are simple and easy components.from a 1-5 gallon AACT or Tea(Actively Aerated Compost Tea or AACT)..lots of uses for these items including add to soil mixes for a microbe boost too. what sizes of tea will you be brewing roughly?

Wow thank you for such a lengthy reply. Tons of info there, so thank you!

Now don't let me seem unappreciative of your help and info but here is my situation a bit more in-depth and the biggest question I have concerning compost tea.

I want to keep my tea basic, I am a very inexperienced organic grower and I want to make small changes to my growing process.

I currenly grow with BiozBizz light mix and BiozBizz nutes.

My main reason for wanting to use a compost tea is purely, at the moment, to increase my microheard and fungal friends within my soil. I'm not too concerned about making my tea nutritionally beneficial in terms off NPK and trace minerals. I want to start simple.

My understanding is the compost is the source of the micros and fungi. Molasses is added to feed the micros and pump for O2. Other additives are for a nutritional boost?

My biggest concern is using the right compost to start with. As I can't make my own or source decent homemade stuff, I need to resort to shop bought compost.
Can I use any shop bought compost without damaging my plants. Does shop bought stuff contain the micros I'm after?

Again thanks for all of your help, I really do appreciate it
Yes but you need to look for organic composted commercial tea then.... If that what you want to use is commercial. That what I would search for and study to make sure it is organic...
When you do find it make sure and get the freshest bottle you can find the older stuff the microbes only live so long.
Don't believe any store proprietor that tells you they last forever... They do not you want to find the freshest bottle possible. It will have the most active microbes in it... Good luck [emoji482]

Hey there guys

I’m also a bit of an organics beginner in uk

I first soak tea ingredients in bag over-night (no bubbler) in water on a heat pad and use that separately (..maybe spray leaves with it)
But then add more water and brew it with bubbler for 3/4 hours and use that too - so very short brew time
Haven’t been doing it long so that’s all just my own personal guess

Some uk organic suppliers

Lots of microbes in poop..
They have earthworm poop - also soldier fly poop (smelly) and mealworm poop
Or ready-made chase organics earthworm tea - very good

Blackstrap molasses from health food shop

Has nice stuff

I brew with basic ingredients but I also sprinkle powdered giant veg mycorrhizae in my planting hole

You can get lots of interesting grow stuff here including high phosphorus vintage bat guano ( ..even more poop) for flower Tea

Save you some googling anyway

I would personally advise against soaking stuffs for a day covered,an evening, either or. the idea is to take the fresh stuff from the hard items then using the leftovers for a Top coating and/or worm bin ,soil bin additive(s) or outdoor flower garden even.plus if there might be a single tainted item ,it will go rancid quickly although you wont smell it right away.then hitting it with air could be a serious issue at some point. just stop soaking your tea in still water overnight.other than that, happy harvesting!

@Eyes on Fire
..Thinking about what you’ve just said
(And checking back with Teaming with Microbes lol)
You could be right - might get some anaerobic pathogens

I just got a spare nano air pump
(..with oscillating technology which is much quieter than rubber diaphragm)
so I’ll use that to bubble it - and try to stay in the aerobic ‘safe zone’

Thanks for heads up
Back to happy harvesting for me
