New Grower What is "missing" in autoflowers?

Hey, I'm a noob to growing (for the most part), but I have been smoking for a very long time and I have the same tolerance problem. It seems to happen to me after about 3 days or so, either with great shit or mediocre smoke. I did smoke all day every day for the longest, but even now that I don't I have to switch out. Even something that takes a bowl or less to get me blazed fades as hours are counted down, but my buddy who doesn't smoke as much never seems to have an issue with that. I haven't been growing for a long time or grown the same names in both auto and photo's so I can't compare the two end results (Maybe someone here has that comparison) however I haven't noticed any difference in ceiling high or longevity. If no one has that maybe you could try this, I'd be interested to see if there was any real diff for you.

Having to smoke 2 joints of a given strain certainly sounds like a tolerance issue to me. Another point about Dragons is that Mossy has bred them for medicine, not for recreational use. They contain higher levels of CBD and CBN, so give more of a medicinal effect. I don't think comparing them to photo stains bred for a strong high is really valid. I've grown Stone and Duurty Dragons. The high is not as intense as other auto strains but 10 minutes after smoking them I start to feel the medicinal effects, mostly with a numbing of the nerves in the skin.

I've also done some comparison grows between photo and auto versions of the same strain. World of Seeds auto Pakistani Ryder vs. their photo Pakistan Valley. Black Skull auto Pineapplegum vs. their photo Pineapplegum. Yes, only two stains but still a valid comparison. In both cases I give the photo versions a slight edge in potency. Not much, maybe the difference of smoking a few more hits of the auto to reach the same high as the photo version. Slightly different highs which is expected given the different genetics in the autos.

I personally like the WoS autos for potency. Besides the Pakistani Ryder, their Mango and Coffee Ryders are as potent or more so than many of the photos I've grown and smoked. I would suggest growing some of those. They are good recreational smokes with potent and long lasting highs.

Again, I think physiology comes into play. I've got friends that can smoke the most hardcore strains you have all day long. Got buddies that would smoke the same strain and you'd have to peel them off the concrete with a spatula.

Also, I would think the intake method would also greatly dictate the strength and longevity of your high.

You can take a much larger hit off a water cooled bong than you could off a dry pipe. Taking a gravity bong rip is going to get you more stoned than taking a few tokes off a glass spoon. Ingesting cannabis oil is going to affect you far more differently than smoking cannabis. Smoking concentrates like hash or wax will affect you different than a normal, non-concentrated amount.

These are just a few ideas, but look how many variables I just threw out right there? And really, none of these variables are photo/auto dependent.

Just food for thought!

I've just been wondering if smell, taste and appearance are linked to tolerance in some phycological way? I mean if you have a strain you absolutely love the look and taste of...some real peng you would gladly smoke/vape every day until it ran out. In my case it would be Blue Velvet, damn I would smoke that shit till the end of days.

how big are the joints is my question.
Similar to what others are saying, I can't recall NOT building a tolerance to anything I've smoked regularly.

I've had the same problem for years. Growing up I thought it was the mexi dirt weed I was smoking cause I lived 23 miles from mexico then I went back to oregon and smoked bud way better but after 2 weeks Iwas smoking the good green the same as dirt. So it has more to do with human gentics for me cause when I drank it was the same way with beer for me. But in the end if photo's get the high you want grow photo's. JMHO.

I fall in the same category as Muddy. Whether photo or auto, I need to switch things up to keep from building a tolerance. I've got around 14 strains in storage, and I am constantly swapping them out. That's one reason why autos are great for me. I can grow 4 very different strains and have an ounce or more from each for variety, rather than growing a big photo with several ounces of weed that I'm going to burn out on after a while.

ummmm genius. I have SUCH a high tolerance, I actually stopped feeling high at all. switching it up sounds perfect, especially now, since as you know, I have 3 different auto strains goin'. now.... are we talking about simply switching strains -say from Auto Maria2 to Auto Acid which are both sativa dom. or switching indica vs sativa like going from Auto Acid to Fast Bud (which is my indica).

Do you know I went the exact opposite way.
I grew Autos and photos my first season and my Autos far outdid the photos for meds with no ceiling....I Think a lot comes down to personal tolerance/physiology.

Everybody told me that Satis were the Best Up Meds..but I don't get Sati effect at all..it is Affy that floats my med boat.

Also..I Think there is a different effect from med patients to tokers..and on one particular cross..there is definitely a male/female effect difference..:coffee2:..
