New Grower What is this?

So i checked my runoff today and it was super low. I ph'd my water to 6.3 and my run off came out at 5.8 Which means my soil PH is 5.3 Correct? +/-.1 How can i raise my PH of my soil. She is actually starting to get worse :( . And my other one is showing some signs too. Thanks for the help

The last watering I did was 6.5. It seems that the issue has stopped or slowed a bit after the last watering with mild bloom nutes. Maybe it was a P issue and it was just not getting enough from what I was mixing. There is still a few affected leaves that I will keep and eye on and let you guys know how it turns out. I'll also keep and eye on my runoff ph and make sure it's in a good range. Thanks for the help!

Just do as Tang told you ten days ago. Flush.

Why did you use ph down for your water?

I did a flush yesterday with about 2 gallons of water. I use ph down because my natural water ph is 7.8-8.2(well). Ill just have to keep a closer eye on it in the future

I measure what comes out of soil after watering. And things started to improve.

But of course I had to screw seriously before taking ph into consideration. Before I was guessing and paid high price for that.:WTF:

If your soil PH is really 5.3 then the PH of your water going in should be 7.7; you can raise it with any hydroponic PH up or Baking Soda or probably other things the nice AFN people will tell you. However I am not sure if we are clear on the test.. you need to measure the PH of the water going in, then measure the PH of the run off - then depending on if the run off is lower or higher than 6.5 you alter the PH of your water going in the opposite way.

Thanks MJ. I realize that the runoff needs to be 6.5 ph. I do measure my water prior to watering. I just assumed that if i watered at 6.5 then the soil would buffer out to 6.5. Apparently I was wrong :P. So my next question is, how do you initially get the PH of your medium? And testing runoff PH is a must. Thanks for the help!

It is very simple. Here is one solution for you:

You have to buy medium that is prepared with MJ in mind and has to be:

- light
- airy
- with correct ph
- not full of unknown nutrients

In Europe it is Plagron Light Mix and Plagron grow mix we go for very often. You will find many growers here using it.

Before I used Plagron, I had been buying different and at the end more expensive soils than Plagron (9€ for 50l Light mix only).
Then I had prepared my own mix which was too wet at the end, because of too much water soaked vermite used. Wet soil was total screw and attracted gnats soon. At the end 16 plants went out because of no hope for them and because I had decided that I would not do any loosers job any more. In MJ growing I call loosers job breeding stunted plants with no future and behaving that everything is just fine.

After buying Plagron, I screwed again with rain water ph 5 but that mistake you do not need to make because you had already screwed that and therefore learned something about.

So, buy prepared soil mix with correct ph, use your 3 days old tap water as it is and check outgoing ph every single watering without forgetting it. If too high then use ph down agent.

I have stunted 6 plants with rain water and I must tell you that 2 of them in air pots were less damaged by acidic nutrient lock as others. maybe would be better to go for air pots too. Or scientfic air pots you can see here also.

Please have in mind that if you want a good yield you do not have time to adjust your soil ph and catch it up and down. You have to start and continue with a proper one.

Autos seem not to forgive mistakes you make.
