hello green world,

I'm a Noob to the grow. I have been researching for about close to a year now and want to start growing. but there's so much info out there, I'm starting to get confused because as soon i as i get set with a info i find a forum which states the opposite from what i set my mind too. I would like to have straight forward answers on what nutes to use for a beginner with a beginner budget. I'm open to being coached step by step if anyone is interested. I'm willing to just forget all the info i learned in the past to learn a well proven method to get me started until i can improve to the advanced level like you pros. I apologize if I'm talking to much i just been holding these emotions for a long time. I'm really passionate about the grow. let me tell you what I have:

Strain: (5) Northern Lights Auto
Medium: Promix HP
Light: T5 (8 4ft. bulbs 40000 lumens)
Ventilation: 6" carbon filter (6" vortex inline fan)
Space: 2'X4'X5' Hydro Cabinet Box
container: undecided (budget considerations)
Nutrients: undecided (budget considerations)

Sea Grow 4-26-26 is a basic one size fits all nutrient for autoflowering canna. Dirt cheap too. You'll need some tools. A temp/humidity guage and at least a ph, if you can afford it get an ec/ppm meter. There's tons of info in the New Growers Section. I'll throw up some links.

Good link that grado posted. A lot of us use Airpots. They tend to get larger plants Vs. standard square or circle pots, but that's preference as well.

Fox Farms makes some good, cheap and easy nutrients. General Organics also makes a good lineup. Seagrow I have heard is great stuff as already stated. I have been wanting to try it actually.

For more expensive stuff you can try the Advanced Nutrients Ph perfect lineup. I have seen amazing results from those nutes.

Great mix, I love Promix. I use the BX mix with General Organics nutes. I don't have the space to grow huge plants, but I have been happy with the results. :D

Being your first grow and with that lighting, I'd stick to 2-3 plants. You're overdoing yourself with 5 plants brother. Especially with such limited light you're not going to get what you expect. With that said, 2-3 plants (more towards two..) I'd get one of the sampler packs. Using Promix HP, Botanicare's Sampler or General Organics sampler..

Botanicare for Soil
General Organics Go Box

While they're not as inexpensive as Seagrow, they're far more complete. If you use them at 1/4 - 1/2 the recommended dosage which is standard with autoflower, they'll last you two grows. :)

Again, please don't grow 5 plants under that little light, you're doing yourself a disservice!

Welcome to AFN. I see you've already gotten some good recommendations on nutrients. Fox Farms is a good one to start with. Bear in mind that Pro Mix only contains starter nutrients, so after about the first 2 weeks it will be up to you to provide all the nutrition your plants will need. So whatever you decide, make sure it is a complete formula for vegetative and blooming, as well as the necessary micro nutrients.

The size of your pots factors in how many you can grow. I would recommend 3 gallon. In that space, and given that Northern Lights can get a little bigger, I wouldn't grow any more than 3. If you want to grow more, I would suggest you use smaller pots, but either way, your yield would be about the same, 5 smaller or 3 bigger plants depending on the pot size.

wow i didn't expect that small amount of plants under that light. I thought since the T5 lumens output is 40000 lumens divided by five plants wouldn't that be 8000 lumens for each. Thanks for your info I really appreciated. will Definitely look at Seagrow.

Thanks for the info, forgot to mention that i do have a ph meter and hygrometer/thermometer. is the EC/PPM really needed?

The lumens aren't the determining factor, it's the physical space available. A plant in a 3 gallon pot needs about 15-18 square inches of space to grow unimpeded. So in a 2' x 4' space that's about enough room for 3 plants max in that size pot.

Thanks for the info, how much in yield per plant do you think i can expect if everything goes great.
