OLD REVIEWS What should Northern Lights smell like?

I grew a couple of Northern Lights (Vision). The grow had issues. Spotting, yellowing, drying leaves. Small yield. Undersized buds. The thing that bugs me most though is the smell of it. I can live with the small yield of a couple of ounces but the smell of the stuff turns me off. I don't know how to describe it, but I'm starting to think it smells a little like Ivory soap. The taste isn't particularly offensive. I've never smelled weed like it. Can anyone describe the typical Northern Light fragrance or what could cause it to smell weird?

Amendment: I just cracked open a jar and it seems to have gotten less offensive by sitting, a little less soapy.

You said ivory soap, so a foral type of smell? that is normal in all the northern lights I've grown so far. I didn't like it at first either but it grew on me and when I grew cash crop (big bud x nl) it made me like it even more. It will continue to keep that smell but will get thicker which then its more enjoyable. fresh northern lights imo is not great but the final cured product is superb

I can't honestly say which strains by name. I've grown but two strains and otherwise have always procured on the black market and I'm convinced they totally wing it naming the strains. Beauty of growing is you know what it is.
