No...when the plant pops it's called a sprout or grow shoot. This is the very first set of embryonic leaves that have smooth edges. It does not require any nutrients as it's initial energy is contained inside the seed. From there it grows it's 1st node, and is called a seedling. This is when the leaves get their serrated edges, but are still premature and small. Each new node produces more complex leaves until it's got a set of full blown fan leaves. This is when photosynthesis really starts and the plant takes off and requires lots of available nitrogen. Vegetative stage is marked by explosive growth and the plant is now completely dependant on the environment.
