Lighting Which LED for small closet?

Hi, I'm considering purchasing a LED light or two for a small closet space. The closet is 3 feet wide, 6 feet deep, and 6 feet tall. Do I need air inlet/outlet with LED, or do LEDs not produce enough heat to need as much airflow as my MH and HPS lights? Also do most LEDs plug into my usual power outlet, or do I need a special ballast? Thanks, Clayton

most plug into regular receptacles ... sounds like a perfect size for 3 LEDs using about 180 watts each .... most lights you need to get a 300 watt to get 180 actual ... no problem so long as you know how many watts they truly use ... w/ those lights you could grow 3 or 4 large plants yielding 12-16 oz ... maybe a little more once you got good at it ... best would be to start w/ one light and one plant and see if you like growing ... ventilation depends a lot on your climate and whether you want to grow in the summer ... plants like fresh air ... they would prefer 70-80*f ... one light in that space you could get away w/o ventilation but plants would prefer you at least leave the door open ... I'd suggest Mars Hydro or Platinum LEDs .... there are venders on the site to answer questions and many documented grows using their products ...

3x6 id call large.a 3x3 tent should be more than enough for 1 person.

led gets plenty hot, just not under the bulb. I have two blackdog 200 in my 2x6x6 closet. I have a cheap fan hanging in between them blowing out and keep the doors cracked in the summertime. With led I'm a one light per plant guy. My advice, look for an led to cover one plant. I like the blackdog. Retired a clw 220 and bought a second blackdog, but it's hot and noisey in there.

Almost all led lights are full spectrum meaning they have both red and blue lights.

Clayton if your using a led with blue and red diodes or what people call full spectrum you can do this little equation to figure the amount of heat. Wall wattage multiplied times .8 then multiply that times 3.14 that will give you the btu's of that given light.

Most of the less expensive LEDs available are around 20% efficient. The remaining % is heat so that's why I noted to multiply it times .8 or 80% the best way to lower the heat is to raise the efficiency which would lower the .8 or 80% to something like the new Cree or citizen cob lights available which are 40-65% efficient. Hope this helps.

well 3 feet wide and 6 feet deep I would possibly look ito spectrum kig as well.Im having 3 although my fourth didnt sprout and the three are lookg excellent and no real heavy leaning towards a hot spot either which is a real treat to see with LED's and the new white technology really seems to be paying off thus far. and two of them would more than cover that area imo. also with that light or similar lights fresh air is always a good thing.air displacement is key to a successful grow. and most lights similar have external syncs so plan accordingly. fan for each light for the syncs.hot sir displacement. and fresh air intake with active syncs/fans.unlike the passive fan/pin type of syncs. low heat on most LED's. although my mars runs a bit warmer than I would like. and that has fans.with a designated 6-8 inch fan blowing right on them the CC-100W LED system Im using is actually cooler than anything in my tent from my T5's and other LED i have currently. so I would use that with any light you get,but that one is worth a look certainly.I have a thread and there is a wee test of them also going on., kinda nice and inexpensive lights.

ill be posting pics soon too. note the even growth and i have not turned them or anything.moved,shuffled,nadda yet. and they are even. very impressive imho.

I've got a Roleadro 270w UFO and for me it's perfect for my cupboard , it's not too noisy and doesn't get too hot

Start with a 600w from Mars hydro and work from there. Despite the nay Sayers kind LED is a good option too
