hi guys,

Any growers on here having difficulty with some of our white lines, Walter white, the white train, white triangle?

I'd like to get to the bottom of any issues, so please leave your feedback or ideas here, maybe as a collective we can figure it out.

Gbd told me he's having 50% success rate.. Which is something we obviously can't be happy about.
Problem 1 - sprouting above ground and then dying off.
Problem 2 - crinkling /twisting and later dying off

The strange thing is that genuinely we aren't experiencing the same.
We've grown well over a few hundred Walters.

If anyone has had this, or people are having successful runs with no issues , then we'd like to hear from you in here.
The more details the better :)
Cheers, Mitch

This is what I've been seeing.

I've got a few more that are older and falling behind the rest of the pack too. Hopefully it's just something I'm doing, but everything is the same medium wise throughout all the strains.

To me.. That looks symptomatic of a too hot mix.
Just going from past experience, visually anyway.
I know you know your onions and grow some fantastic looking plants, but do you have something a bit lighter to try for comparison?

Cheers

Here are the two Walts falling behind.

@mephisto thanks for the help, mitch! I appreciate you going out of your way to figure it out. I will pick up se seed starting soil although I've never had a problem with the roots in the past. I was blaming my rooting plugs initially, so I switched to a new supplier to see if that would help. I'll keep on isolating and troubleshooting what I can.

Cheers!

I will take a close Look at the White Triangles Bro as im in this Head to Head Growoff. Will give you honest opinions bout them. Gbd same Soil Mix Diffrent Plants we all know even in Strains there are certain individuals that swim against the Mass. But they defo look weird to me Hot Soil Ok but could also be a genetcial Issue but to proove that You rather pop a 100 Beans in small Smartpots and check what they all are doing. From Single or Small Batches you wont get a Oversight.

Fact i love how You care bout the Breeding Stock @mephisto

Btw this is not a real Comparison going from Plants to Reptiles(i bred Snakes and other Reptiles for over 12 yrs) but from the Genetical View of things... there were some Ball Python Morphs (letz adapt this on a Clone Only Strain like The White) which performed super as Single Morphs(co dominant Gene Pool) but if you bred them to another Morph or even wanted to Create the Super Morph( co dom x co dom = super) only Animals with Genetic Defects were the Result. Also most of the Babies didnt make it the first Week of Life. So this makes me think... Mutations + Dying Babies could also be a result of a non compatible Gene Pool within the Plants/Strains. Its definitly a worth to Research thing.

I planted 3 Walters, direct to ground outdoors and when I visited a couple weeks later only 2 came up and out of those two one was a runt, never got more than a couple inches tall so I quit watering it when I visited and it ended up disappearing. The one that started out ok kind of fizzled after some time also, not sure why, In in that same area I had some photos going and they all reached over 6ft tall, so i know the ground was good. Maybe they are very nute sensitive? I used the same nute concentration for all my outdoor plants this year and all of them grew, some better than others. I used 2 cups/hole of premix organic nutes for my photos(20gal + holes), 1 cup for autos in hand dug holes (10 gallons of soil) and 1/2 cup in gas auger drilled holes (approx 5 gallons) Probably my favorite plants I grew this year, were triangle kush, sodk and chemdog x sour bubbly.
