Lighting Why not 24 hrs?

Excellent dissertation! I'm feeling it. I could make a brick grow.
Question: At what point do I switch from MH to HPS?

Will changing light cycles in the middle of run affect the plant? Got some shitty advice and changed for two 24 hour periods. Went back to 24/0 now. What can I expect...other than a noobs shitty yield?

lol, you should be ok. Changing light cycles will stress them out some and those with weaker genetics have a tendency to hermaphrodite but I haven't seen a lot of autos do it. Photos tend to be more light sensitive.

It is all a learning experience brother. You will do fine. Your plants, not so much, lol.

Thanx for your vote of confidence A4! I'm separating the wheat from the chaff here. I went into this project with low expectations for my first grow. Learning the idiosyncrasies of the brand new growing area, apparatus is exciting and challenging. Any advice for seeds for my next grow? A forgiving type? Yield is NOT an issue. I simply must go from seed to harvest once. I may accomplish this with the two Jock Horrors I've been torturing (2 of 4). However, if manage to kill 'em, I've already learned tons. Any advice, encouragement, tutelage is ALWAYS appreciated!

thanx

I would have run 18/6 but needed the full 24 so could heat my box as it is in an out building and not heated, also didnt want the strech in a small box.

No worries, I could post some pictures of my first auto grow that would make any new grower look like a seasoned professional. I screwed it up royally trying to grow them like photos. I had no idea what an auto was at the time, lol. That is what brought me here.

I am probably not the guy to be suggesting auto seeds. I tend to grow photos mainly but have just ordered some autos from Mephisto. The proprietor is on the board every day and their genetics, from what I have seen look top rate. The other plus is you can order directly from them. Check with Trapper or Duggy, they are growing some of their stuff right now. Other than that, I have seen a lot of people have good luck with the AKR(Afghan Kush Ryder) and of course Dutch Passion has some large ladies.

I don't think it makes a lot of difference what you grow honestly. The main thing right now is just to grow, have problems, research the problems and fix them. There is no better teacher than experience in this hobby. Here would be my one word of wisdom. It is easy to fix problems/deficiencies and such. I see people make recommendations all the time on how to correct issues. The challenge is trying to figure out why the plant got that point so it don't happen again. Most deficiencies arise from problems that have been going on for weeks, they don't happen over night so think back several weeks and see what you can do on the next grow to keep that from happening.

Keep notes.

Plants do best under conditions natural to them. As far as I know ruderalis grew in regions with a dark period and certainly the Indicas and Sativas they're crossed with are used to prolonged dark periods. Leads you to think your strain would tolerate well some amount of darkness. Joint Doctor suggests an 18/6 cycle for his Lowryders, that more light yields nothing extra.

If I have a question about a strain I'm growing I ask the breeder. Like in April when you wonder when your plants are ready you best ask the breeder what the plant should look like. Ask some of these cowboys was up. They're using lassos to tie those mothers down and Ginzu knives for toppin and fimmin (f**k). Like asking Nadal how to hit a ball between your legs. Don't try it. (you a guy, egg?)
