A small update on how things are going.

Cakes #5 and #6 are growing very nice flushes. I've lost track on which one is which lol

I hate these guys that are born without a veil... They usually end up very small and something makes me think not particularly worthwhile as far as potency is concerned.

Some pins form with partially opened veils and are usually, at least size-wise, alright although I still find them annoying to look at as well.

I also did some really advanced maths (percentages & shit) and found out I'm about 30 fresh grams short of having yielded an oz total. That's my original goal but with 4 more unbirthed jars I might be staring at another ounce down the road. If I'm extremely lucky, that is.

I hope that just bruising!

Looking so good.

Yep, it's aerial mycelium bruising from low humidity. It looked much worse a few days back but it's slowly turning back to white. This new apartment is weird in that here I have to mist a shitload even though RH is close to 60. My last place had a humidity of 30-40% but just a couple times a day did the trick. No difference in temperature.

Thanks for stopping by!

Just thought I'd throw in another update now that the last 4 cakes have been birthed and they have begun fruiting.

Picked the big trio and one other mature shroom from the new cakes, they weighed 12 grams. Also picked some from the older cakes.

EDIT: Just picked 33 more grams
EDIT: ...and another 17 grams. Only a few 'shrooms left growing in there.

PSA: Found out that caps opening prematurely is a condition called rosecomb, usually caused by chemicals (petroleum based). Apparently, stroma can also be caused by the same reasons. Makes sense since it pretty much started right after the move. There might be something in the water...

WHAT?! Almost 10 years old?? :yoinks: How did you store it?

I haven't tried eating them fresh but if might try on Friday. I really don't mind the dried taste either, though once they've spent time in the freezer they seem to have an unpleasant bitterness to them (like all mushrooms I've ever eaten out of the freezer).

I store them in a ziplock bag that is inside a paper bag with some of those packs that come with electronics and all that in another ziplock and keep it in a drawer under my sexy underwear it has to be sexy underwear the spores like them more:crying:
after that amount of time it took quite a while for them to get going though I knocked up the jars june 23 and they were at 100% july 20 three days later I did a G2G to rye and made 7 jars but they seem to be going through the rye a little slower but I can wait I had a little left over after the G2G i mixed with some cow manure they are pinning right now. I suggest not putting them in the freezer once cracker dry the shrooms will stay good for over a year without loosing potency just left in a paper bag in a drawer.

Cakes have now been spent and tossed which marks the end for my first grow. Total dry yield 45 grams for an average of 4.5g per cake. Not bad! I'll definitely be doing this again once I have everything to make a liquid culture out of the remaining mini syringe. What an amazing hobby!
