So my pump suddenly went to half strength or less a couple of weeks back.

It's a Hailea V10 with 4 air lines, so i sent got a replacement from the seller (from whom a couple of my mates have bought pumps that ran fine for a couple of years or more).

The new one arrived today, i plugged up all four lines, two going through a y-connector into a single airball for bubbles in the middle and the other two going into seperate airstones for side bubbles, so the whole bucket is covered.

For some effing reason this pump seems low on power too, same airlines, same power socket, same airstones ... godammit !

Anyway, here's a video that shows that, for some reason in this brand new pump, the pressure doesn't seem enough :

I think i must be doing something stupid, either that or i'm unlucky - PLEASE EDUCATE ME !!! :)

All the best,

My first thought,

Have you tried to raise the pump above the water / bucket so its not pumping air upwards against gravity. You could also shorten the run then too. Also does the power come back if you disconnect one or more air stones?

Try to have one line from each 4x line split into each airstone instead of having all those Y connectors and madness, I am running a hailea aco 9610 with 4 outlets and before I had a 2 outlet one that I killed by running 2 outlets into a Y connector, best is to run 1 outlet to a Y connector not the other way around because something happens that the pump does not like, maybe it starts to battle it self

also shortening the line drastically increases the pressure, take a feet off the line and the bubbles will increase and also keeping the pump above the water line, also I recommend getting http://www.amazon.com/Uxcell-3-Piece-Plastic-Aquarium-Non-Return/dp/B00K95M8VU so if the pump stops it will not suck water back into it and kill the pump !

or just keep the pump above the water line but I actually do both because I am paranoid of ruining my nice pump

Thanks for advice guys.

The pump is in the same position it's always been in so i don't think it's a height issue, perhaps it's the y-connector i'll try.

Thanks again :)

Have you cleaned your airstones? they get clogged after a while. I scrub mine with a pot scrubber and 35% H2O2, then rinse with RO water.
