Hello all. So the short story is, I'm currently growing three blue himalayan diesels. They are three wks old. Two look healthy. The bottom leaves of the other, however, are starting to yellow. They've all had the same conditions, including diet. I'm assuming it's a nutrient deficiency; so does that mean she has a bigger appetite? I'm not really sure though, which is why I'm here ready to learn

Here's pics of all three:

Brother... this girl looks like she has a pH problem... Not so much the yellowing that can happen to the first single leaf, often yellows and drops off.... What makes me think pH is the way the leaves are twisting and buckled.... Thats assuming she not next to a fan or too close to the light???...
We need some pH numbers to be sure... IN and OUT of your pot....

I have a liquid tester, which allows me to test water. I'm not sure if it was designed for soil tests though. Gave it a go anyway, added a soil sample and water to a vial. Then, shook it up, let the soil settle, before adding the pH test drops, which yielded a 7-7.5 reading. Can't be sure how accurate this method is however.
She's about a foot under CFLs and not directly near a fan. I'm feeding her GH FloraNova nutes and she's in MiracleGrow Organic potting soil....

Not to dismiss the possibility of a pH imbalance, but maybe it is nutrient related. The plants being fed on top of whatever Miracle Grow already has incorporated. That would mean she's just a bit more sensitive than the others I guess. Even if this isnt the case, I'll cut back on the nutes a bit to prevent burn, or overfertilizing

Catch some runoff water in a container, pour through a coffee filter into another container, then to test vile. Might get you a more accurate reading. I used to check my ph with drops/vile also and it worked until i was able to get a ph meter.

Agreed:thumbs::toke::peace:

I could flush her. Rinse away the build-up, then resume feeding the following week. I have nothing to base that off of though, just a thought.

Yea i can see your soil is not the best, im not keen on the slow release style soil... But from the pics you posted i see no nute burn... Im only seeing signs of pH been out and given you are adding nutes to the soil and imo its making the pH rise and fall all the time....

I'll tell you what i do when i water and check mine.... I mix my nutes in the water let it stand for 5mins or so and then check and adjust i req.... I use Airpots so i water slow and catch any water that comes from the bottom of the pot... Then i check the pH of that water.... You need your solutions to be between 6.6 - 6.8 going into the pot and the run-off water needs to be 6.2 - 6.4...

That makes sense all-around. Thanks. Following this grow, I'll switch out both the pots and soil. Until then, I'll monitor pH. I'll update next feeding.
