Indoor Yet Another 1st Autoflower Grow - Royal Dwarf

The one seems to be ok except for a brown tip. The cots have opened up all the way. I think a second one is ready to pop up as well. Kind of disappointed in the germ rate, but I'm sure it was my fault. I planted on sunday and temps ranged from 60 F to over 90F using a mat designed to incubate chicken eggs. I managed to get them at a stable 78 degrees on Wednesday, also I think my soil was too moist. Did the mat bake my seeds? I planted like 100 flower seeds to practice germinating seeds recently and I got like a 97% germ rate

I have found that it is better to keep it simple when it comes to germinating auto seeds.Remember these plants want to get up and go ,so to speak. While photo peroid style plants have time to recover. Here is the detais to my personal germination process.I fill 16 oz party cups up halfway with a lose potting mix. Dont forget the drain whole on the bottom of the cups. Then i take peat pellets and swell them to there proper size. Before placing the swelled peat pellet in to the cup, make sure to cut the netting on the bottom side of peat pellet. This will allow roots to grow deeper at a faster rate. Then place pellet down in cup, conitnue to pack soil around pellet and level off with top.Leaving soil about 1/2 inch from the top of the cup.I then place the seed in the top of the peat pellet, no more then 1/4-3/8 of an inch under the soil( Also make sure to moisten your soil before planting the seed) Gently push some lose soil over seed, then apply some water.I prefer to use a dropper or drip bottle,So you dont push the seed further down in the soil with a surge of water.Just keep them in a warm spot example-The top of the fridge is a great spot.I then let them sit there over night till next day.I then put them under a 100 watt mh for a few hours .The next morning i turn on the mh light and leave it on a 20/4 light cycle.by then most of my seeds have begun to break the surface.

7 days from planting today. I dug up 3 very brittle seeds that had 0 roots. Put them in moist paper towels just in case they are viable but it looks like I killed them.

try covering the top of container w/ syran wrap to help hold moisture on the top layer where fraagile seeds start but is the first to dry out
you could also put a cup over the seedling in the planter also it will hold the moisture around the seed better while evaporation is taking place

Thanks. Wow I feel like an idiot. I've germinated hundreds of seeds that all cost about 1 cent each. Leave it to me to fuck up the ones that cost 1000 times that.

Progress update:

One sprout remains of the 6 seeds. I've named her Sprouty. Poor sprouty has had a rough start to life. Half rotten and missing a cotyledon, all of her siblings rotted.

Made a couple adjustmests today: Put Sprouty closer to the light, and added a humidifier. I noticed my humidity was very low. I also moved my propagation greenhouse into the main grow area for better insulation.

Sprouty seems to be healing. What chance do you guys think she has of surviving long term? I don't see any new growth yet.

What type of light is sprouty under? how close? Allow the soil in the cup to dry out before watering.RD show very agressive growth after one week of sprouting.I have had sick seedling turn out to be nice plants.Just not the biggest due to there slow start.I would try and get a few more seeds.I am sure you will get it right the next time!

I've got her below a T5 about 3-5 inches. I can see a little bit of growth starting to happen. Two tiny tiny little leaves. Cell division is under way. Go Sprouty go!

Also I've germinated 12/12 tomato seeds in my hydrofarm seed starter. Feeling good about my next batch of seeds.
