Do i get a higher yield if my three plants who are growing in the closet in my bedroom..We are tree persons sleeping there inclusive the dog....

I think about the co2..

Any meanings, i think they look extra big this year..

Sorry about my English

3 people give off alot of CO2. The benefits of CO2 most times aren't worth the cost of the expensive equipment needed. But free co2 can only improve the plants, and certainly couldn't hurt.

Most likely the big plants are from you improving your skills, though.

Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is already accounted for. Therefore, cellular respiration by humans (breathing/exhaling) does not actually increase carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere because it's just cycling what's already there. Remember the carbon cycle brother! Carbon and oxygen molecules combine in the atmosphere to form carbon dioxide gas. That CO2 is taken in and given off naturally by microorganisms, plants, and animals on the planet and typically finds it's own balance in nature, and this exists as the cycle known as the carbon cycle. As carbon matter decays, it forms natural resources (ie fossil fuels,) fuels are burned (hence why some CO2 generation systems use burners, or why the CO2 ppm concentration near your gas heater in your house is much higher than say your living room,) and additional CO2 enters the atmosphere.

Atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration is about 400 ppm (parts per million) on average in most parts of the world. Trending data shows CO2 levels increasing over the years, which is a big part of the debate of global warming and the greenhouse gas effect.

I agree with Skatter, you're most likely just improving your skills bro! Pat on the back! :pighug:

Not to disagree for the sake of disagreeing but I have a CO2 monitor in my grow room and have personally seen the levels go from ~400 to ~900 just from me and my wife being in the room trimming plants with the door closed. That was with every turned off except my overhead lights.

I'm not disagreeing that humans don't exhale carbon dioxide. I just think that's it's a cyclic function with the environment and not just a "straight path." You're exhaling carbon dioxide when you breathe, but the environment typically balances it back out into the atmosphere. What happens when you two leave the room Psycho? Do the levels return to normal? Or do they stay at that elevated level?

But I will agree with you; I think my last statement was incorrect; the CO2 levels SHOULD increase in a room with multiple people in it. Whether those amounts stay concentrated at elevated, sustained levels long enough to do any good though? I guess that's my question.

The original question was:

Personally, I don't think 3 people and a dog are going to create a high enough CO2 concentration to have any effect, but I say this very subjectively because without knowing the size of the room, the ventilation, the build quality of the house (I've had bedrooms that the wind just WHISTLED through,) or the CO2 concentration when the room's empty versus people sleeping, I would say opinionated, without knowing any other variables, it's probably have little to no effect on your plants (that you say are in a closet.)

Here's a quote from an article on Cannabis Culture by Ed Rosenthal (if you respect his opinion on cannabis subject matter.)

Under 60 watts of light per square foot (psf), plants can use enrichment to 1500-2000ppm CO2 rather than the 400ppm found in the air. This can double plant growth and yield as compared with non-enriched garden spaces. Cannabis uses CO2 only during the light period when photosynthesis takes place, so enrichment during the dark period is unnecessary.

Any thoughts on this? And Psycho, I appreciate your input bro; I'll clarify my post a bit as I think you made a good point.

if they only use co2 during lights on how does it even have effect with a fan exchanging the air constantly?

Muddy or Mr Ganjamoto may be good people to ask; I think they both run some form of CO2 system. This is from further in on that article I linked:

Conversely, when CO2 levels are raised during the light cycle, the photosynthetic rate increases. Plants can utilize up to 2000ppm and growth rates can double. When CO2 is added to the room, it will be absorbed within thirty minutes ? which is when exhaust fans typically turn on.

So from that, it kind of sounds like you would enrich for a certain time frame, then exhaust like normal. Is there a saturation point where it just doesn't do any more good for awhile? :dunno:

Yes, I agree and was trying to put it kindly because I didn't want it to sound like I was being argumentative. It is difficult to sound nice on the internet when you disagree with someone, lol. Honestly, I was trying to word it nicely.

I wholeheartedly agree with you though, I don't think it would help because like you said, the levels will drop when they leave or the door is opened. I never thought two people could put off that much CO2 but I kept watching the meter go up and was amazed. But as soon as the door is opened it is cut in half in no time.

I worked a big greenhouse growing tomatoes five or six years ago we had a stadium style hydro going. Had 1000w lights on light meters for the cloudy days. Any ways......They had co2 set up also. This place was wicked man. If only i could have some privacy in there for a year, but when the co2 kicked on there was something that shut dowin all fans abd the vents shut down. Every so often it went off. it was a really cool experience.
