Super Soil for Massive Pyramid Seeds Tutankhamon Indoor.

IMG_20201230_153926.jpg
Ok, so Autoflower Network and here I am growing Photos, shame shame I know your name. Pyramid Seeds Tutankhamon, Tut for short. 2 plants side by side in 30 gallon containers under 2 600 watt HID ghetto styles with reflectors. Say what you want, I still think they outperform LED and LEC, just so cheap up front and so easy to pop a new bulb in. Went with several bags of Natures Care Organic Potting Mix with the "water conserve", a Home Depot special and right up my ally. The trick up the sleeve is The Natures Living Soil Super Soil concentrate. Based off of Subcools super soil technique. Amend super nutrient dense soil at the bottom 1/3 of the container and then fill the top 2/3s with premium potting soil. Water and light from seed to harvest and no fuss feeding. Never done it before, I'm a hydro dude son. I went with a 5 pound bag of the Super Soil concentrate mixed in at the bottom of the container. That's a lot. I literally spent like 80 bucks for soil on each plant. I don't have any early pictures because we all know how boring and redundant they are. I topped at the 3rd internode. Yes, that's early, but I was really looking to control the height and spread these bitches out laterally. Ok, so topping is my pet peeve, you can overdo it. I topped the resulting growth from the first top and then maybe ten days later I topped the two sides that were catching up to control the height. THAT'S IT. I only actually topped 3 times. After that it's just training, I don't want spindly little branches with tons of little shit ass buds to trim. I won't get into temp, we all know where it is. Watering amount and timing can flux, I'll post that on each picture as it goes. The first picture is aggressive bend and secure training at day 34, from there on I adjust as best I can to develop a full canopy. I'll update about every 20 days.

Day 54. About 20 days after initial training. Wet to dry watering, about 4 gallons every 5 days. Adjusting and bending to fill in as best as possible.

So I'm growing 2 of these side by side, one for big johnny number #1 purposes, and one for little bill clone sucka. Funny enough little bill clone sucka had a better structure out of the box, that's why I'm cloning it, duh. Well one morning I was extra fat and rushing and I literally fell head first right into little bill. Right on the money joint, no pun intended. Got me a wire abortion tryin' to hold it all together. Yay.

Day 69. Into the murky waters of conjecture and bewilderment I slide. I think the Super Soil is running out of gas. The first picture below kinda represents what the plant started doing in several places. Loosing that dark green color. Not that bad, but this is something that usually progresses and is usually indicative of feed me syndrome. To be fair I didn't exactly follow the guidelines of what Natures Living Soil recommends. 1 pound of concentrate for 5 gallons of soil. This is a 30 gallon container, I used a 5 pound bag. But would 1 more pound really make a difference for the N demands of the plant at day 63 of veg?(That's when I first noticed the pale leaves happening) In fact I had a friend make the argument you could veg a plant that long on premium potting soil alone, and that the super soil additive has had no impact on growth whatsoever. Maybe he's right, he's vegged a plant without feed in a 10 gallon container for 30 days before it needed to be fed. But it's hard to say for sure, probably to many factors involved, he had less light, has plant was smaller, different strain, and so on and so on. The kicker is, the clone plant right next door with identical treatment, with the exception of me falling face first on it and splitting the main stalk, harvesting 9 tops for clones, and a bout of over watering, has had a miracle recovery and exhibits zero signs of feed me syndrome. Haha. I guess I'm glad this was the clone plant. If you look at the picture of Little Bill, the left side of the plant is where all the clones came from, so you can see the width this plant could have had in relation to height. Really just a resistant SOB. So regardless of the concentrate conjecture, I'm still totally sold on the idea. The original inventor of this method SubCool, has a recipe posted that I'll try again. I admit I was lazy and impatient, stupid Americans always want a quick fix. Oh yeah one other thing, I read reviews of Natures Living Soil and people are reporting a terrible smell when they opened the bag. There was zero odor when I opened mine, plus the outside of the bag looked like it had been around since Jesus was a baby. Literally all worn with and inch of dust on the bag. I bought two bags from EBAY. Perhaps this product has a shelf life. Annoying. I have the same issue with nutes in general, there's no "best if used by date" on anything. I've had some serious inconsistent performance with Botanicare in the past. Hydroponically anyway. Went from 5 tablespoons with a batch of plants down to 1 tablespoon when I bought the product from another location. Again, probably a lot of other factors involved but they were the same strain, just different seeds. Regardless of that Botanicare is what I'm using I've fed twice so far. Started at day 63 with 12 tablespoons in 2.5 gallons of water, and then hit it again at day 68 with the same. Watching the leaves like a hawk.

Day 89, 12 days into Bloom. A nasty ice storm blew thru and I lost power. I flew home from work and was relieved to see my outside motion light was on. Power restored I thought. I opened the door and the joint was an ice box. Apparently my furnace took advantage of the opportunity to shit the bed at the same time. The lights were on in the grow room but it was way to cold. Long story short, I watered the root zone heavy with very warm water, about 78 degree water, and then jammed to the store to get what I needed to hopefully get my furnace going. After several hours of cleaning the nozzle and adjusting the probes, I finally got the stupid thing going again. After having my furnace serviced professionally I found out what I did was basically shit luck. There's a gauge to get the right distance from the nozzle to the probes for it to work. I couldn't do it again if I tried. Anyway, I rolled the dice with the warm water, it was so cold and the prospect of restoring heat was bleak so I did it. Like two days after I had already watered anyway, so, way to much water. The following days were nail biters, the plants wilted hard and a ton of yellowing started happening from the bottom up. I was going to defoliate anyway, but not like this. Thank God the plants weathered the storm, but now I had mold. White powder mold was everywhere, probably due to the stress and radical temperature flux. I further defoliated. Didn't work. The mold was just not going away. I decided to go with the food grade hydrogen peroxide method. From my understanding it's the least invasive and toxic. There's a picture below of the stuff I used. Food grade is different from the stuff at the pharmacy. Worked perfectly. 1 teaspoon for 1/2 gallon of water, and then a foliage spray. Stalks stems leaves and everything in between. I didn't water for 7 days and used the spray on both plants twice. I'm inspecting the plants like ridiculous now, but it appears the mold is gone. Fingers crossed. I hated to go into Bloom at day 77, I really wanted to veg 100 days, or a least that was my goal, but the power outage and the mold gave me a serious reality check. There's a lot at stake and I need to get these bitches done. Plus my clones are jamming in hydro and I'm already thinking ahead. One other thing, when I switched over to Bloom I overfed, 6 tablespoons of Botanicare in like 3.3 gallons of water. The leaves on Big John were talking, curled and burned. Not bad but bad enough. I haven't fed Little Bill at all. Haha. The Super Soil seems to be working. I guess we'll see as the buds develop. I'm not feeding Big John for a while either, just water everyday, but much less, about 1.3 gallons everyday around the edges of the container.

This is the stuff I used for the mold, a little pricey but it's great to have anyway. I also put it in a nebulizer and breath the mist when I feel a cold coming on. Covid hysteria. The mix ratio is 1 teaspoon for half gallon and then spray the
bad guys. There's also a closer shot of the bud development at day 12. I hate HPS lighting, plus I have a shit ass camera. Hopefully I'll have a good camera for the grand finale.

Clones from Little Bill jamming, day 27 in the hydro since rooting. The mold from the main grow room floated into this area as well. Haha. I had to apply the hydro spray for these too. Mold is no laughing matter. Using FoxFarm Grow Big Hydro formula, running PPM at 750 right now. 1 600 watt HID light.

Day 33 into Blooming. I won't be posting any more updates after this until chop day. I can also say I will never grow this strain again. The mold is just ridiculous. About every 3 days I literally soak these things in about a 1/2 gallon of foliar spray each; from head to toe. In between the big soak days I spot spray everyday. I've never experienced mildew like this, it was really unnerving at first, the stuff just appears overnight and spreads so fast. Little Bill took on a structure that I didn't really care for. The main colas got really tall when I flipped the lights and now they need support. After I spray for mold the thing just flops all over the joint and the buds aren't even big yet. A little disappointing, considering this is the plant I took the clones from, but that appears to be a horse of a different color too. I admit I've never done clones before, so I had no idea the actual structure of the clone as it grows is not necessarily going to be like the Mother plant. I'm guessing Clones have their own health specific to that Clone, and that is really what dictates how the plant grows and ultimately what it looks like. Clones seem to grow much taller too. They seem to be lankier with more distance in between inter-nodes. Plus I'm growing them in Hydro, so there's that aspect of difference as well. I water both soil plants with about 1.5 gallons of water and 2 tablespoons of Botanicare Bloom every day. There's some considerable yellowing happening down below but I don't really care at this point. My main goal is to mitigate the mold until these are done, and that's enough work. I probably spend about 2 hours everyday on all my plants. I had to order Vivosun Glasses because my eyes were hurting and I was going to go with YoYo hangers for Little Bill, but Amazon shipped me an empty package, glad I only pissed away 10 bucks. Haha. The Glasses work good though, they block the intense light and correct the yellowing coloring of the HPS. I switched the bulbs for pictures.

The Clones are growing outrageously. I flipped the lights to Bloom 5 days ago. I wanted to wait until the soil plants finished so I could move them into the Bloom Room, but the mold changed my mind. The strain is just to sensitive. I'm gonna get these done and move on. I've topped these Clones many more times than the soil plants, mainly to control the height because they were getting so much taller. I was using Fox Farm Grow Big Hydro formula but it takes way to much feed to get the PPMs up. Plus I was getting this nasty residue build up in the bottom of the bucket. I switched over to General Hydroponics Flora 3 part series. I know, I know, Monsanto. I looked that up. It's more complicated than that. It's not just GH, the entire industry of Big Agriculture is dumping on the little guy. Just ask Neil Young. Even Botanicare is caught up in the mix. GH is consistent, it's cost effective, and it works. I got 3 gallons on Amazon for less than 100 bucks, you can't beat that. I feel bad but unless you don't consume any commercially manufactured consumables at all, you support Evil Empire too. I unplugged a long time ago. I get raw milk right from the Farm, use homemade soap, use glass bottles and blah blah blah. So it is what it is I guess. The Clones are drinking 2.5 gallons everyday, I feed once every 7 days, and my PPM is around 1500 on feed days. It works out to be 12 tablespoons of Grow, 8 tbls of Micro, and 4 of Bloom. That's the feed ratio for vegging plants from GH, 3-2-1. I'll switch over to Bloom next week. The PPM sounds like it might be a bit high, but I have 2 different PPM meters, both of which are telling me different numbers. Oy vey. The Clones have been in the Hydro 48 days now, and are about 60 days old. Just watching the leaves and spraying for Mold.

So I lied, so sue me. Little Bill, the plant I cloned, started making seeds. Hooray! I'm guessing it's not genetic, I'm praying it's not genetic. I'm sure it's because I over-watered it, over-fed it, fell on it splitting the main stalk, lost control of the temperature both to hot and way too cold, massive defoliating due to the mold, and finally cursing very loudly while in the grow room. I read a legitimate study done on plants that were exposed to loud heavy metal and others that listened to NPR man man voice all day. The man man plant did much better. No shit. Gay people can grow some serious weed bruh. Anyway I had to harvest, I looked up and down for bananas all over the joint, none. Plus it was just Little Bill making the seeds, so thank God no pollen floating around. It was day 40 when I took it down, very disappointing, lots of shit ass bud. Maybe 4 or 5 ounces of early stuff that smells like fresh cut lawn and has under developed seeds here and there. I didn't include any pictures because it was pathetic. That's Ok though, I'll just mix that shit in with the good stuff, muthafuckas don't know shit from shit, you know what time it is. Anyway, Big John is on day 41 of Bloom, still mitigating the mold as best as possible, no seeds and still hanging in there. It seems like the mildew doesn't attack the bud like it does the leaves. Or maybe the buds are more resilient. The Clones are growing outrageous. I still feed once a week at the same amount and replace lost water everyday. They've been blooming 13 days now and show no signs of slowing down.

Day 46 into Bloom. So Little Bill landed me 175 grams. A little disappointed but the smoke is actually pretty good, I don't taste the hydrogen peroxide at all. It's green, and I haven't really cured it yet, but it's good. I'm fighting tooth and nail to keep Big John going. Spraying the mold has developed into an obsession. I've been flushing now for like 7 days. I started a little early just in case. Since Little Bill is gone I'm running both my 600 watt HID lights on this unappreciative whore ex-girlfriend bitch plant. So the buds are gaining some serious weight. I've got my fingers crossed I'll be able to take it to the 11th hour to make up for Little Bill. Clones are jamming in hydro on day 18 of
Bloom.

I harvested at day 63. The total dried yield from Big John was 374 grams. Not bad but not anything to write home about. I was really hoping for something special in the weight and size department, but I guess I should just be thankful I even finished this at all considering everything that happened. The smoke is good but again, nothing to write home about. Just good weed, not great.

The Little Bill Clones are on day 41 of Bloom. It's pretty ridiculous but I've been going around with tweezers and plucking the underdeveloped seeds out as they grow. I've been working on it for probably 2 weeks now. An hour a day just picking away. Haha. I ain't harvestin' early and I ain't gonna have no seeds neither. Hohoho, Merry Christmas. I think all the topping to control the height and or the stress caused by picking the seeds out has left me with smaller bud development though. Oh well, still some time to go so we'll see. Oh yeah, I did switch over to a different Mold Control Method: Fox Farm Force of Nature Fungicide. Now this shit works. No question it blasts mold with just one application and mold really struggles to come back. So at least there's that. Funny though, the time I was spending on Mold Control is now being spent on Seed Control. 1 step forward 1 step back. My feed is once every 7 days at 6 tbls bloom, 6 tbls micro, and 3 tbls grow of General Hydro 3 Part. Now if only my cat would stop shitting in the grow room...
