Maybe I was expecting too much... anyway, onward and forward!

So, it’s time to start a new grow I guess, looking at the European energy situation I can only see electricity prices going in the wrong direction, so I had better get some stash in place while I can.

I will, for the first time, venture into the world of Auto’s, because, well, you know, why not.

I grow in a cupboard in a small apartment, its quite stealthy because, well, its in an apartment block and I have a lot of neighbours and there are legal things to consider too.

My tent, a marshydro 70x70x160 is such a tight fit that I have to actually build it in the cupboard, ‘cos it will not fit through the door frame, and so I have about 2cm eitherside when installed.

There is a 1cm gap under the door for air flow, this of course means airflow isnt great, so I will be installing a ventilation grill at the bottom of the door (wish I had thought of that years ago) and I will be lifting the tent off the ground a couple of cm’s to allow better airflow to the tent vents at the sides and rear. Hopefully this will give more airflow, keep the temps down and generally improve the grow environment.

My light,

Self made with Citizen CLU048-1212’s and a HLG-320H-C1050A, I can connect 4-6-8 cob’s in different configs (35k,57k,27k) upto 320watts

Why these two? short plants, high THC, good Yield, in a small space, seems like a match.

3 reused grow bags, 1 bucket (2+2 each seeds for comparison, (and cross seed??)) will see what happens.

Plan for Scrog/LST depending on how the plants grow.

3 coco blocks - soaked and expanded in full dose nutes. eur 3

2 x10ltr perlite eur 16

Cal-mag, jic eur 5

Root stim eur 12

Litmus Ph test strips eur 11

coloidal Silver 500ppm eur 18

Door vent eur 13

setup tent:
3-4 wood strips to lift bottom of tent for air flow
Set tent forward 20cm to leave more air space at rear.
Fan and filter on top outside of tent, Check this for good air flow and aroma stealth, or revert to filter in tent .
Put air vent in bottom of door, took longer to carry up the drill and saw than to actually do the job.

Two weeks under the light, topped a couple of days ago, The stretch on the FR is very noticeable,
So I dropped the training mesh in place and turned the light 90 degrees so that the rear two plants can have their own dedicated bank of lights, 2-3 x 3500k + 1x 2700k for flowering, and the same for the front two as they catch up, will wire up the other two cobs to the rear as needed, its a simple "pop out" the current connection and then "pop in" another 1-2 cobs in series as soon as the training starts to ramp up the photons.
If I remember correctly running the cobs under 50 watts is more efficient for the citizen CLU048-1212,s , I like to run them @ 30-40 watts, they run cool 25C, but pump out a lot of light.
In the mean time I pumped up the volume to 35watts per cob =140 watts total.

Another day.
I am somewhat surprised at the way these 4 are growing, the difference in growth rates between all 4 and even between the original germination and the 2nd is quite impressive.

I have the feeling that training these girls the way I prefer is going to be quite an experience, I dont remember scrogging 4 plants at such different growth rates before, and without the control of light switch as with Photo's to boot.

All 4.
The two at the rear are L-FR, R-GC , 1st germination, (the GC is expected to be a more squat plant than the FR)
Front two both FR, 2nd germination 4-5 days after 1st germination.

IMG_20231022_081658_486.jpg

The initial germination FR, some stretch.
IMG_20231022_081513_339.jpg

The initial germination GC, squat same age as the FR
IMG_20231022_081519_088.jpg

The two front girls both FR 4-5 days younger than the rear 2, 2nd germination and still very different growth.

The stretching Forbidden Runtz, was above the mesh already this morning, so required a little manipulation and restraint.
And so, just like that, the training begins... 4 plants all weirdly at different stages of growth, all going to have bow to my will for the next 2-3 weeks. After that, once the horizontal plane is as full as possible (each plant gets 35cm square to play in,) they will be allowed do whatever they want vertically.

21 days under the light.... not really impressed here, but hey what can ya do.

one FR seems to not like the fan, so I switched it off for now.

rewired the cobs on the front and rear bank, 2x3 cobs @+/- 30watts, now running on each bank, +/-180watts total, raised the lamp (because I was seeing a little taco-ing) 20cm or so and will lower as seems fit over the next week.

with all 4 plants at different stages of growth i find it quite difficult to read where its all at.... all part of the curve I guess.

slowly slowly, , a all 4 are now topped, branches are growing a little, pistils are getting aromatic, the fan and filter are now in use, its getting cold when the lights are off, considering just running 24hrs, everything is kinda guess work, but moving forwards.

Hmmm now got more plants with classic wind burn indicators... droopy clawing leafs, still firm but with an almost dry feel to them.

I have had the fan sucking 280+/- square meters ph out of the tent and pushing it through the filter... seems like this is just too much for the plants to handle with all the vents open., also the incoming air could also have been too cool.

Anyway, I have reverted to having the filter in the tent and the fan sucking through the filter and out through the house ventilation system, air movement is far less, but the main heat at the top of the tent is still escaping through the filter even though i have less air flow across the plants, this has always worked in the past, so..... experiment over I guess.

Plants stink, even though there are few flowers and problems,

But hopefully I can learn a little more as we go.

Decided that the reflective tentbottomthingmagigwithholescutintoit was too restrictive, couldnt really see what was happening with the pots and watering, air was been sucked up through the holes and over the plant really well, too well. so that has been removed, now back to a basic setup, filter at top, fan on top of tent, only the rear airvent open, hopefully the plants enjoy life a little better, softer, unrestricted and indirect air flow, every thing more open,
BACK TO BASICS!

This is the 1st time I have soaked, simply because the usual way, (popping the seed in soaked compressed peat jiffies) didn't yield the usual results, which turned out to be my own doing.... so I tried what works for most people here.

My mistake, I am pretty sure, was that I was In a hurry and these "coco jiffies" had not fully expanded when I popped the seeds in, so The coco expanded after the seed was in and was too tight for the seed to grow.... well thats all I can think of tbh. I think the fact that the 3 seeds I soaked after this all popped and started proves the seeds were ok and that I did wrong...

As it stands I have 4 planted and two trying to survive after a little digging and loosening...and a total doornail, .learning curves can be pretty expensive at 11 euro a seed.. :baked:

Not sure if those jiffies are the same as root riot or the eazyplug starter, but I can say for sure the the eazyplug 1" cube works perfect all the time dry bean in, and you're golden unless it's a dodgy seed. As for the price of bean I alway look for the specials but I think I hit the jackpot with Double Seeds, you'll be able to get them from seed-city in the UK. Thing is they actually give you double seeds or they are half price.

I'm currently eight weeks into two different strains, and they are both fast and very frosty.
