Week 9 - I'm happy with my FastBuds purchase

She's at 46 inches tall now, which is the top of the range stated by FastBuds on there website. She is also stocky and bushy as promised. The smoke report will have to wait for another month or so. I'll use FastBuds again next year and am thinking 'Blackberry' would be a nice choice. This year's plant is plenty big and barring a disaster should give me plenty of product to get me through the coming year. I only use about 0.1 grams per day, decarbed and sprinkled into my dinner usually has me mellowed out and ready for sleep at bed time.

This plant has worked quite well in our local climate. I think the first week of June was a good starting time. Any earlier would be too cool and any later would risk not ripening on time. I'd like to optimize both day length and warmth but that's not possible. Early June seems to be a good compromise. I'd start a bit earlier if unseasonably warm weather is present. A bit later if unseasonably cold weather prevails.

The trichomes are showing a bit of frostiness and the pistils are almost all still fresh and white. So maybe the end of the month will be harvest time... maybe. I'm expecting these colas to at least double in width in the coming weeks.

In the past I've been overly eager to harvest. I'm gonna try to wait a bit longer this year before harvesting. If big rains come that may advance my schedule a bit.
As long as I can get a decent sized plant I'm happy with autos. I can grow photos here but they require light exclusion by early July. Otherwise they don't really get into flowering until late August... and that's too late. The light exclusion strategy works like a charm but is a big pain the butt. Last year's photo 'Afghani' yielded an enormous bumper crop which was cool but way more than I need. An auto works just fine it seems and is more manageable. Maybe two if I want some variety.
