100% Organic Grow.

I have watched this video several times to be sure I understand exactly what he is saying. I cannot find flaw in his logic. In fact I though of this idea myself they just beat me to it.

All due respect my friend, it's going to take more than a YouTube video to get educated on the subject. The soil food web can't be bottled.

I have done many hours of research and experimentation on the subject because I make my own organic nutrients im also in contact (email) with Scott so I can ask him any questions you all have and respond in my organic thread as to not further jack EoFs thread

just touching on their info, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I do however have a problem with any line of nutrients that wants to sell you 5 or more jugs of anything, that are ALL a must for your garden. You do organics, so yes, you need a variety of items to amend your soil with. but once you have them you can make a lot of TLO, or supersoii, or whatever style you'd like to call it. But I bet the cost per grow is 80% less than any other form of supplying nutrients to your plant. And, your organic mix is most likely the best thing you can give your plants. I haven't gotten around to buying all that stuff, and I like to keep it simple.. I've been using Grow More Organic Soil Builder.. Want to know what’s in it? Its basically TLO in a box. Its a blend of the popular meals, guanos, etc. And Here's what I love about it.
1. It works! I've got soil that’s on its third recycle, that’s been amended whit only the Grow More stuff. Having no issues with my soil, no deficiencies..
2. Cheap! Around $7.00 for a 4 pound box. I don't even know how many plants I've used it with, yet I still have a fair amount left. Now I'm playing with worm castings, making my own. And you know what? Worm castings do just about every thing Nectar of The Gods claims for its products. Nectar looks to me like a product trying to create a nitch, rather than fill a need. Just MO on that is all, not even saying I'm right, but I hope it is food for thought.

I understand, we are always searching for something better. I am too. But I think we need to concentrate more on what we know works, and how to make that better, improve our techniques and or knowledge of plant biology etc, so that we can move beyond the many "growers myths" that still abound, and advance our passion for growing in a positive manner.

Nectar is all about the calcium. Thats is the big selling point. In fact Scott even says about a few of his products that you can replace them with other brands such as the liquid yucca and seaweed. My goal is to get hydroponic yields in an organic soil. I love tlo but it is impossible to achieve the results I want with only tlo.

It is organic.

It is not organic. All this talk piqued my interest a bit so I made a trip over to their website to look at the ingredients list in their products. They are using a lot of the same ingredients us "living organics" gardeners are using but they are also using some inorganic compounds. As soon as I saw "Hades Down", I knew something was up. The names sound good but I don't know any organic purist that is going to put phosphoric acid in their soil. Calcium Nitrate is another big no no, which is in Medusa's Magic. A lot of the ingredients list is awesome and I use most of them to make my own soil! I am not putting the product down if someone wants to use it but their ingredients list isn't much different than Fox Farms or any other "organic lines" with the exception that most of those other organic lines are actually OMRI certified organic.

I am not, nor have ever discouraged anyone from using any bottled nutrients or amendments. I have used most of them at some point myself. I will say, I don't care much for people claiming to be organic and natural while pushing bottled phosphoric acid as an amendment. That is marketing BS at it's finest.

Not to jack your thread EoF. Just wanting to make sure everyone understands that this product is not organic. It has a lot of organic ingredients but it does have some ingredients that are absolutely banned from organic gardening.

Im not going to get into a debate but it IS organic. It is not omri certified because they use mineral based calcium sources as well as carbon based forms, they can not, by definition, certify as organic. To be certified organic it would have to be 100% carbon based ingredients.

But still...its organic imo

Mineral based fertilizers are by definition synthetic. Calcium Nitrate is synthesized by using nitric acid to treat limestone with and adjusting the pH with ammonia. "Mineral based" sounds like an earth friendly, organic term to the unknowing customer but if a person does a little research they will find that many synthetic fertilizers are mineral based. There is nothing wrong with mineral fertilizers as even us organic farmers use minerals such as lime and calcium, both of which are minerals. It is when you combine them with a chemical such as nitric acid that they become "mineral based" and therefore a synthetic fertilizer. It is a chemical reaction that creates the fertilizer, which is not natural.

That isn't a debate, it is a fact. I am not trying to be difficult but I also don't want future organic farmers to think the term "mineral based" means it is organic because it is the exact opposite of organic.

You make good points. I sent them an email and will post the reply in here with a link to my organics thread so we can continue this discussion and get to the bottom of this
