12/12 vs 18/6 ... DLI vs Yield

My autos do really well outside with far less than 18 hours of light. Some only get 8 hours of direct light but as we know sunlight if far better than other forms.
absolutely , direct sunlight in some places can be 2000 PPFD, with 8 hours of direct sun light could be up to 55-60 mol·m−2·d−1
 
To get the same dli in 12/12 u do in 18/6+ u will bleach and toast ur girls. Its like trying to pump extra nutes to them in a shorter time span and saying well the math adds up. Its not that simple to quantify the dli and blast a plant w photons. If this premis held true u could use a laser to grow in 3 hrs a day lol
 
I started w autos in a 12/12 tent under 1000w hps. They did better than the photo cuts i had in yield but were dwarfed by the same regimen at 18/6.
 
It's simple DLI is energy. If you want bigger buds you increase the light intensity during flower to compensate for the shortened hours. I do this for my photos. Electricity bill is exactly the same veg or flower. Same energy given to plants but different hours.

The beauty for autos is you can get higher DLI without upping your wattage during flower by keeping the veg schedule at the expense of limited plant size.

oh I understand the lighting thing and pretty good undertanding of the nutes , ph etc...1st grow pretty good, this is 2nd, (photos), other plants show nothing untoward and this one didn't...till this morning. kinda seemed like a little N toxicity so posted it up for the infimary specialists to either confirm or send me in another direction.
 
You clearly don't understand DLI or the point he's trying to make. It's like trying to talk to a brick wall.

I understand perfectly fine. I'm just saying this doesn't play out as a cheaper option vs output. I'm asking for concrete examples and all the can be provided is loose theory that isn't backed by actual grows. I'm patient, I'll wait for someone to prove me wrong with actual grows. I'd love to be proven wrong, but as of now this is all musing with no hard evidence.

Thank you, this is exactly what I was trying to get at. The other unmentioned is that lowering the light reduces the effective footprint of the light. If I am reducing my footprint I am not optimizing my space. In order to do that at the suggested levels one would need to add more light, negating any financial benefits of lowered light hours. The math also doesn't add up as the original video pertains to dealing with the time restriction of photoperiod plants being only able to flower around a 12/12 schedule.

We aren't talking blasting 100DLI a day into 12 hours. Just matching a reasonable DLI during veg for flower to get more yeild and to get more out of the time invested into the grow.
 
How does this differentiate from from the already standard practice of lowering the light during flower to the maximum intensity the plants can stand?

You are correct. DLI is increased with lowering the light but you lose coverage. To maintain coverage you have to add more lighting or watts if you are pushing your lights at 100% during veg. I think we are saying the same thing except I'm just trying to have the exact veg coverage during flower so I'm compensating with extra watts during flower instead of lowering the light.

My statement only applies to people on the cusp of running one light at full capacity. Talking about higher electric bills during veg, etc. Veg and flower should be consuming similar power draw for equal coverage imo. I think growing autos first made me aware of the DLI issues and why autos make such fat buds. I have run my photo grow with matching DLI for veg and flower and have had very good results.

I also agree that to much lighting can bleach the tops.
