Hi all

Decided to give growing a go, more out of curiosity than anything else.

Very occasional smoker, as only ever seem to get pure couch lock bag weed these days...and that's not my cup of tea.

So found a nice small sativa and we'll see how things turn out.

After reading copious amounts on forums, I've gone for the most simple set up possible.

Seeds straight into soil in an unheated propogator, will pot on after two weeks into 5l pots and then get them out to their permanent home, a wooded area near me with little foot fall off the beaten track.

Planted 3 seeds and two have emerged after 3 days. Will give an update as and when things progress.

Hope you enjoy :-)

Hey Guerilla grower, are you starting you seedlings off outdoors? I've been trying to find someone who isn't starting them off with lights. If you aren't using lights could you upload a pic of your seedlings for comparison? Cheers mate

Hey Jonesy

I haven't started from seed outdoors...they're indoors in a seed try with plastic lid to retain warmth and moisture. Haven't bothered with lights, just put the seed tray in a south facing window for plenty of sun light.

Did consider putting ting them straight outside from seed, but our weather's too unpredictable and just figured they'd do better with a few weeks indoors to get established.

Here's a couple of pics, will try and add new ones weekly(ish!)

Are you growing the same strain mate?

Thanks for the pics. I am leaving them indoors at night and putting them out if the weather is nice or in the greenhouse, so just wherever basically lol. I was worried that mine are getting too tall and gangly but they are only a bit taller than yours and are a few days older. I've started a journal too, I am growing Dutch Passion's Think Different strain. I will be keeping up with your grow good luck!

Jonesy

I'm now in the same boat as you mate. Mine seem to be growing at least 1cm per day, but no leaf development yet, so looking a bit gangly too!

Problem now is that I threw the seeds in a tray with some flower seeds for the border in my garden, hoping they'd all spout about the same time and disguise my automazing seedlings for the couple of weeks before planting out.

However the canna seedlings are now nearly hitting the top of the propagator and no flower seeds have germed! :-(

So the question is, will my seedlings cope ok out of the propagator if I just pot them up and leave on the windowsill until they're ready to go out guerrilla style, or do you think they still need the added warmth and moisture of the propagator at this early stage? They're currently only a few days old...

Any suggestions guys?

Cheers

Hmm

I also started mine outdoors. Planted them directly in their final pots, and leave them out in the green house during the day. I bring them in at night, but thats about it for my methods.

However, mine seem to be working on growing leaves instead of stretching tall.

So decided to pot up from the seed tray as they had reached the top within 5 days.

Potted up into 9cm pots with party cups on top to keep warmth and moisture in. Hopefully this will give me enough space to grow on for a week or two, by which time I'm hoping they'll be ready to plant outside.

I know it's advisable not to pot autos up, so this may turn into a half assed grow. However I'm not after max yields etc, as the grow is kinda just for fun, although of course I still want something to harvest!

Was very careful potting up, cut around the seed tray insert, placed into larger pots, filled in with new compost them removed the initial seed tray insert. Figured this approach would cause little to no stress to the seedlings.

Anyone else been been daft enough to use this approach?! If so, do let me know how it affected your grow...

cheers

Hey guerrilla, now I'm no expert but looks like you may need to repot again and bury the girls so the top is maybe an inch above soil, if not they may need some support until you transplant outside.

When you do transplant outside, again you can bury them deeper into the soil. Also I'm not sure if the cups are necessary anymore man. Worth getting additional advice however. Wishing you luck

:peace:

So thought it was time for a quick update...nothing happened for quite some time, but leaves have started to develop now, will get some new pics up the next few days.

Im kinda rethinking my grow, as the weather's been so naff of late, I'm concerned that they'll overwater with the rain we're getting, and I also wonder about mould issues from the rain too, once they're into flowering.

What do you think guys? Genuine concerns, or just me overthinking?!

Gilly, I took your advice and removed the cups fairly swiftly, doesn't seem to have done them any harm :-)

As I'm a bit of a tinkerer, I'm now liking the idea of a small grow box in my garage and have started to gather materials to do the build.

Thinking I might plant one in the great outdoors and one in the grow box and see how they both get on!

Anyhow, pics to follow early next week :-)
