New Grower 1st PC GROW

i think i solved my temperature problem.

i just rearranged the fans inside the pc.

passive intake = bottom hole covered with filter
fan intake above passive

1 fan hanging above the lights angled diagonally (top R >> bottom L)
1 fan in the middle of the back case aimed towards the side panel door

current test run in progress: EMPTY CASE
4 lights / cased closed / AC OFF
4 hr check (wireless sensor temp)
ROOM TEMP: 80 / HUMIDITY: 37
INSIDE CASE: 82 / HUMIDITY: 39

seems all good so far.

will update at next lights ON.

update as promised.

current test run in progress: with the plants
4 lights / cased closed / AC OFF
1 hr check (wireless sensor temp)
ROOM TEMP: 80 / HUMIDITY: 37
INSIDE CASE: 84 / HUMIDITY: 39-41

this pictures were taken after 1 hr of lights ON.
temp / humidity w/ case closed seems to be good for now.

----

very happy with the temp difference from room to inside the pc.

this just means that the temps will be lower then the AC is on.

With the 5.0 run off you're getting a pH lockout situation, which is causing the discoloration of your leaves. Need to get that up to around 6.3 - 6.5. Can you get a hold of some hydrated lime?

ah. so thats whats causing the discoloration.

i was thinking that it was from the cfl burn so i moved it up.

currently dont have a way of getting some hydrated lime at the moment.

----

quick question:

is it more important for the PH in to be @ 6.3-6.5 or PH out @ 6.3-6.5?

i figured that i wanted as close to optimal of PH in (thats why i adjusted to 6.3-6.5)
next feeding will be a higher PH IN hope of getting a higher PH OUT.

next water cycle:
plain ph water
water with nutrients

----

just sharing a good news about the temp.

12 hr lights on check
case closed/ac off
room temp: 78 / humidity: 42
inside case temp : 83 / humidity: 39

5 degrees hotter than the ambient room =)

finally got a hold of that temp -- for now.

catch up update.

OG KUSH: growing strong and steady
- still growing like a champ
- new growths really showing
- starting to develop some scent

debating on if i should transplant to the 3L air pot.

just dont want it to over grow the space.

thoughts.comments.advice.questions are all welcome.

Muddy will guide you thru your transplant question etc.

I was hoping you could avoid the PH demons. If you have time research PH on the forum and solutions. I have learned so many lessons about it that, right now, I am testing virgin HF soil with three different water combinations and the nutes to see what the run-off is before my first feeding. And I will also use the technique described in the link below (soil sample) which I also did before planting. You will note that the PH is a big deal with most of the soil growers. JM is the PH go to guy and can help you if you need assistance. And you are right around day 17 or so the plants really start to grow as they hit pre-flowering.

Take it easy.

thanks for stoppin by and dropping the link smithee.

i was hoping to avoid the ph problems as well. -- atleast the first time feeding dint go too bad.

now i just gotta adjust to a higher PH IN before the next feeding.

i need to give that slurry test a trial run. (definitely the best way to familiarize yourself with the soil and nutrients reaction)

You want your pH out to between 6.3 - 6.5. Feeding at a higher pH will help to raise it but it's so low at 5.0 that won't be enough to raise it to the proper level. Only think I know that will raise it fast is the hydrated lime.

hey muddy.

so ive been reading more on ph in and out.

seems to have some different opinions from user to user..

some users just test PH IN and dont bother with PH OUT
some users test PH IN and PH OUT

so is ph IN or OUT more important?
or
are they both equally important?

ex: ph in 8.0 -- ph out 6.5 (this obviously would be good for ph out.. but ph in is high)

ive been reading that ph in at 6.3-6.8 for soil = ideal.

should i focus more on ph out than in?!

thoughts?
