This is my 2nd grow and wanted toto get athe journal going as well as i was hoping for guidance through it. First time with autos. Using ffof in 2 gallon pots. Using buddah bloom and buddah grow nutes (have no other knowledge of nutes, my friend suggested those). 1000 watt dimmable hps and mh. Running 24/7 so far and no big issues yet. But i do have an auto cheese that has some discoloration. Here is a pic of her. Just gave 2nd nute feed of 1/2 tsp buddah grow to gallon. And just turned to 1000 watts from 750.

ok already running into some problems. ill upload the pics in a sec. you can see the leaves are burnt differently on some of the plants but i think it may be a ph prolem. i was just feeding tap water and wasn't checking ph cuz im a nube. i checked ph today of my tap and its around 7.8. like i said im using ffof which i believe is a 7ph buffer and was told that i could use tap water. today i watered with water phed to 6.7 hoping to lower my ph. i didn't flush or check runoff because i have those air pots and don't know how i would even effectively flush when water will most likely pour out of the sides. Im looking for some overall advice and guidance on how to prevent ph issues, etc. they are at day 25 in the current pics

Obviously the first four are the ones showing problems. Overall tent is doing ok i guess. The last one is my best of them all. Its an auto white widow.

Looks like ph issues to me...do you have a ph pen?

yep... ph high.... get to 6.3-6.5

yea i checked the ph and made sure it was 6.5 for my two nute solutions but not the reguar tap water. i was told the tap would come out at a ph level that wasn't harmful. but then i thought about it and it didn't make sense to me. and that is probably what contributed to my first time being messed up. now im pretty sure you guys are right with the ph being too high but how do i check how high it is? like i said i got the mesh airpot things which i regret now and it would be kind of inaccurate to try and test it right? and thanks JM for the chart. u posted it on another thread and thats what made me come to the conclusion the babies couldn't get there nutes, and not that they needed more (you probably saved me from screwing them up more lol). my first time i would have probably just fed more lol. but thanks man, that chart is love

Don't regret the airpots, they will bring you a much larger yield. Just mix your water and nutes together then check the ph of the solution. Then after watering check the ph of the liquid that runs off. You want both of the readings to be as close as possible to 6.5 :bong:

Looking a lil better already. Next water im gonna wrap them lightly to test the runoff without it spilling out the sides. How do i go about calculating it. I saw ubpost something about dividing the three measurements swamp but wasnt sure if u still use that.

yeah... recently i posted how to resolve this...
one minute...

I cant find the damn thing doh! our search engine sucks!

sorry...

quick example....

water in: 6.5
water out: 6.8
soil probabaly at or around: 7.0

dont use averaging... remember where you're trying to swing and that the reading wont be right on what the soil is in runoff... depenind on your input... itll be a little above or below your input water.

hope this helps

:smokeit:

It does greatly. So the ffoc probably does have a buffer of 7. My tap has been at or around 7.8 so it might be around 7.4, right? Ill obviosly check but if its that high, should i water with 5.7 or somewhere around there?
