I have two 300 watt old style MarsHydros that have about 14,500 hours on them. All LEDs still glowing, but am I still at decent PAR? Do LEDs get weaker and weaker, or just one day not work? Not really looking to purchase new lights, but I kind of noticed that they just don't seem to be turning out the bud like before. Thanks for any info.:pass:

Most led lights state they will run anyware between 50,000 and 100,000 hours but par dropage will drop some well before that and it also depends on quality of the diodes they use.At 14,000 hours you should still have a strong par value but unless you have a par meter it's really hard to tell

as for their intensity... if in doubt, move lights a bit closer.

If 18" ( random number for point ) all along did great.....but now is slacking, try 14"

And while LED lights are rated for XYZ hours... 24 or 18hr constant on wears down a lot faster. most ratings are based on normal use cycles of so many hours at a time.

I work with DMX, and stage lighting for now going on 18 years, and learned over years, lamp life is perfect conditions perfect world....... driver pushes a bit over amps, ...shortens life
cheap driver components...weaken over time too.

Its not always the LED that fail... the other parts may not be rated for 14000 hours of use

Thanks. Makes sense that if the driver weakens the output will weaken. I assume PAR rating also drops at the same time?

Well yes.
If the driver, for example, starts to weaken... Lets say only deliver 1.1a instead of 1.4
Well the bulb draws XYv at so many amps for full brightness. If it only gets so much draw available, then it will only be so bright.

Hi HM,
Yes, as the time goes by, it will cause the light attenuation, so the used light is weaker than the new light.
Any problem don't hesitate to contact with me.

open it up, and wipe off inside glass

Nice, great suggestion!
