Sure, man. I haven't used kind soil or gbd soil, so I can't comment on those. I only have experience with kisorganics. It is meant to be reused with minimal addition each year/cycle, adding a little fresh compost or castings and a very small portion of the nutrient pack (I think just a 1/10th or 1/15th of a pack, which amounts to like 4 or 5 bucks worth at most). They have tested reusing the soil in indoor beds for up to 5 years, and is said to improve over time. Of course, with me mixing in some coco, and using some bottle nutes, I might be messing with the design, it is intended for peat. I'm storing it though to reammend and trial in the future.

Is kind soil designed to reuse for several crops? If no, then there is a significant difference in cost.

Kis organics makes the nutes pack so you can buy the local base mix you like and mix yourself.

You can also buy ready-made bags from them. Here it is:

It's 35 bucks, and after shipping it's probably closer to 55. They also make a bag with biochar in it for 10 more, but at that point, you can just source that separately if you want. I did use char in my mix this year.

55 bucks sounds like a lot for 1.5cf of soil, but that said, you're probably going to spend 20, 25 easy for your roots organic mix, promix, or whatever bags you're using, and then you have to use more bottle nutes, calmag and stuff. Also, maybe more difficult to cleanse and reuse at that point. This stuff, once you have it, you can lightly amend for next to nothing and reuse.

My next round, I'm going to go ahead and buy a bag of their ready made. I'm about out of soil and don't need to buy and mix a full batch (30 to 60 gallons at 100 - 50% strength ).

I'm going to lightly cut it to 75 or 80% and try to water only, although I do like LIGHT carbs with bokashi and mycos/trichoderms bubbled up and drenched in every week or 10 days to keep things moving. Somehow, I don't think autos need 100% strength, but maybe I'll do it anyways and see.

I'm not stumping for any brands and don't want to harsh out people that enjoy their own style with chems or whatever, but I'm super impressed with the ease and quality using the stuff I do, I feel better about the methods too, inside you know like warm and fuzzy, this feels natural and holistic. Lol. If you're looking to try organics or a new set in general, I don't think you will go wrong with this as I've showed you. :peace:

The kindsoilis one and done. I found their soil bags u just showed me for the price its way cheaper! Kindsoil is 20 plus 14 shipping for 5 pounds, 2 plants. Works great for sure but not going to quit learning how to do this myself. They may not be in business forever.
Thank you very much!

Also, im putting up more pics and will tag you. Let you decide which is the best photo of the twins. Its cool to just have a bud pic instead of a whole plant in the contest.

Cool, Dudeski, you bet.

I just ordered a bag, was 35 +20.45 for shipping. So 55.45. Well worth it if you ask me, I was not only out of soil, but also out of compost and don't want to buy a whole bag at this time.

Wow, so kind soil is one use only! That sucks right there, bingo. Not to trash on them, just pointing out the cost disadvantage of that. Aren't you also supposed to buy and use your own calmag with it too? I think I've read that.

I'm sticking with kis. Shipping is free on the nutes pack, it'll be MORETHAN enough to amend all of the approximately 150 gallons of soil I made this year, and this bag I've just bought. I don't have to buy ANY soil next year, just light mix to start the seeds in, that's it. :woody:

Double checked the re-amendment recipe for kis:

Per gallon of soil:
0.8 oz of nutrient pack
5 oz. perlite or similar aeration (pumice, etc)
5 oz. compost or castings

To amend the $55 bag next time will use about 8 oz of a nutrient pack, using 1.5 cf = 10 gallons.

The nutrient pack is 14 lbs, or 224 oz. for $50 shipped included. So 8 oz. costs 1/28th of 50, which is less than 2 bucks. Then some perlite and maybe 2 bucks worth of compost if that. So the second round is like 5 bucks additional to the first 55. Two bags of soil for 30 each, essentially, which is hydrostore price already, but you didn't have to buy some 10 bottle program for 250 bucks, you know, and not spending an hour a day mixing 10 ml of this with 5ml of that, etc, etc,ad nauseum.

It really makes a lot of sense to me, just in the math. The third and fourth seasons are even cheaper. They've tested up to five years so I'd feel comfortable cycling it at least 3, 4 times before starting over.

I hope the math is helpful to anyone interested in it. I'm going to go ahead and bite the bullet and run it full strength, starting about 2 weeks in a light soil, then burying the pot into the mix in the final container.

It's going to be tough for me to not add anything other than lightly carbed myco/aloe tea but I'll restrain myself and see how they do at 100%. Follow along if you're interested, that run will be dropping beans in about 7 days....

Oh im paying good attention to everything! Dang, thats a lot cheaper. How do you get the roots all out or do you let them decompose?
Could most any good soil be reammended?

Those are good questions. I try to remove what roots i can by hand, and the rest I'm just going to let be and decompose.

As far as reammending soil, well, I don't have a good answer for that. @Eyes on Fire would be the guy to ask, I'm going to defer to him if he'd like to take a swing at this question. .... in general, you can theoretically use and reammend a soil, but the knowledge and measurement of how much of each element is what makes that as tricky (or easy for someone like Eyes) as building the soil from scratch in the first place. That's why I chose the kis nutrient pack to begin with --the peat and compost are lab/microscope tested and the ratio of elements has been tested so the reammending recipe can be so precise as well. Lots of calcium and ph buffers baked into the cake for you. So yeah, I'm willing to pay for a product that's already put together, I think it's well done and worth the money, especially over the long run.

I just wasn't sure if autos needed a lighter strength or not so I've been building up and watching the results. My latest 2, NQ and g14 have not performed perfectly because I forgot they would need less from me in a stronger soil, and I most certainly added too much bottle nutes. I think it was as much a problem of over-concentration as the lowering effect that had on ph, hence the calcium problem on the g14--ph lock out, not deficiency itself. Lesson learned, stoner. :haha: Now I'm ready to try full strength and see how it goes. Cheers

Well, I already failed and attacked a jar for a little nubby, just had to know. :smokeit: :haha:

They're all really good...best quality I've ever achieved. So glad I chose to try the organic soil route, I don't see why I'd ever go back.
:meds:
It's like warm cookies in a jar! [emoji51]

yeah NONE do actually LOL once you achieve that fully smooth and sweetly cured buds from and OD/ID grow, noone ever...EVER goes back..cuz ya just cant compete with it, i love ppl who say ehhh cant tell or no difference either LOL bzzzz wrong answer, somethings a miss if thats the case lol :D enjoy them buds bro,I certainly know I do bro LOL! nice nugz too btw :D
Oh, *uck! First hit from my weak, uncured and barely dried first grow and I gave away the bud I had snd cleaned all my tanks. Even the stuff from polen catcher went. I smoked the poor thing without waiting. Just have one bud in the curing jar for a special occasion. Now, Skunkie, I got to have after cured, etc. She's much better than Broken and I am saving the 2 last buds for that special occasion, which will probably be the stash presented to the first Brit to make it across the pond! LOL

Anyway, what was it again? Can't read well with the sun out here and stoned out of my mind! Oh, yeah... if you grew your own and feel no difference from something bought on the streets, you just didn't flush it or something like that.

I will grow all the weed I'll consume through the reminder of my life! It's a pledge I make to myself! :)
