A Garden Of Goodies

Thanks, @Grim Reefer , that's a nice thing to say. I'm still learning lots, and I don't feel I've really maximized anything about my growing...I find I enjoy the hobby more , the less I "compete" with myself, or comparing with other growers. Especially, I think there's a tendency to like big plants rather than focus on quality with growers here really concerned about when and how much boosters to apply.

I'm trying to steer myself away from that, and am yielding fine with natural methods--the Ripley's OG was 5.35 oz. and the Blackberry was a bit over 4.5, and they lost a lot of time during a spat of poor weather at that, could have been more. I do like soil growing and got some really amazing quality with this season --I'm a fan now of the soil I use, but still experimenting with it.

I just want to say that I'm really pleased with growing in soil as I do, really like the quality of the product and yielding well too.

For the octopots, I'm still learning how best to use them for what they are. Although wick systems are maybe poo-pooed for lack of efficiency in wicking and distributing a nutrient solution, I do think the method is viable for water-only gardening, and may very well come back in to fashion so to speak. Would love to see some other growers here try it in their water only grows. They can be done DIY as well if you're crafty of course, just needs the right size/amount of wicking and right amount of aeration in the soil. I haven't checked the autopot section to see who's running them with soil, I do like that I don't have to schedule my life around the optimal moment to top water each plant.

Thanks again for checking stuff out and I appreciate your kind compliments, Grim, and everyone else who has followed along, you know who you all are...it's a pleasure to grow some tasty plants and show them off here as they grow. Thanks for following along

They are slowly accumulating more Budd age and frost. Have only watered the last couple - three weeks and seems fine, g14 starting to fade the largest, oldest fans and I haven't decided if this is age related but probably is part of the picture. I'd kind of like to lightly rinse them one more time with carbs and the bone meal liquid, just lightly you know, but waiting for the weather to cool before I soak them. 100 degrees yesterday and expecting 106 to 108 today. Not worried about the plants, but moved them so they'll be in the shade after 2 or 3 o'clock this afternoon.

I'll put up some closer pics in a bit...

Wow , that is some pretty high temps and they are looking fine , what is the humidity , no matter what mate , you have done a bloody good job .

Thanks, yeah it's really hot...going to be a blast furnace today. Rh is probably around low 30s. This happened last year as well with a couple day temp spike like this. They don't show distress per se, but it's likely growth slows or stops on a day like today, so they'll be out of the sun at the peak of the day. Back to normal low mid 90s tomorrow, they seem to do fine with that...doesn't really peak but for a few hours between 3 and 6pm

G14. Finally showing a little frost over the last day, been waiting for that. Buds are long but thin, only way to get them big is to shake the camera and make the pic blurry :haha:, lol, but yeah, hopefully going to plump some before all is said and done...

Night queen is okay, the buds are swelling a bit but no fade on the leaves yet. She smells real good and visible frost. Somehow, aesthetically speaking, I feel she's not real attractive looking, kind of odd shape and sort of ugly duckling if you ask me. Oh well, trying to love her for what she is, I'm sure it'll be a nice puff.

Looking good. I'm forcing my plants to sit through this heat without protection. They have been drinking up lots of water and (speaking of wicking) I was thinking of putting a shallow pan under the pots. I can really tell the difference between the pots that sit on soil and the ones that sit over rock.

I was just reading that this was the 15th consecutive month of record heat for average world temperatures.
Looks like I'm going to need to figure out how to grow in this heat.

Yeah, real hot down here today, humidity pretty low too. Plants looked fine though, honestly. The octopots tend to run very dry, especially the upper half of the pot...there's always moisture available but the medium is not soaked, so they're not boiling the roots in the bags, if that makes sense.

Silica is good too, good in general for them in their physical stoutness, insect resistance too as well as heat. ... you using any, @squatty ? :pass:

Speaking of insects, I did want to note that I've sprayed the plants outside twice now with bTi, two week intervals, to control caterpillars. It appears to be just harmless bacteria, and I think is preferable to caterpooped buds. I slacked a last spray on the Thai plant and it did cost me here and there, so I'm more convinced of the need for it in my area :warrior:
